Well, I bought a New helmet on saturday after trying on bloody everything, ended up buying the shoei xr1100.

After a quick blast and motorway journey home I noticed a high pitch whistle which was annoying, anyways got home and fitted the chin whisper thinking this would solve the problem and nope, it did kill it off a bit but its still there.

So I went for a ride on sunday and the chin whisper thing bloody flew off lol. I must of caught it while putting the helmet on.

So im a bit stuck now, I have a £350 helmet im not 100% happy with dude to a bloody annoying whistle. Has anybody else had the same problem at all?

I've not rang the rocket centre as yet to explain the problem so im not 100% sure where i stand with this, I just think £350 is a lot of money to suffer from an annoying high pitch whistle while riding.

Is it with all the vents closed and visor locked?
I get a bit of a whistle without the visor locked at speed, but not a massively significant one.

I had two of the vents open, the very rear two the rest were shut and the screen down. Apparently they are self adjusting, so the visor seal should be correct at all times.

Take it back to the dealer, it probably needs the visor re seating. You can loosen of the plates that hold it to the shell allowing adjustment. The whistle is probably air coming in a very small gap.

Adjust the base plates because you're not getting a good seal. I've got one and it's whisper quiet compared to my arai. Both are good helmets. Arai RX7 is smaller and lighter but the shoei is quieter.

You know anybody in the trade? Plain white or black ones could be had for £240. I can't justify paying more than £400 on ANY lid... I've never had to spend full whack on any lid so currently waiting for the NEC is the only option. The XR1100 is a very popular lid mind.

Yep, got a XR1000 (I think?) and it even sound slike a harmonica if I tilt my head when doing a life saver at speed.

You get used to it, just look at the vents and visor.
