Eliminate the obviouse first....

What's 'hot'?

Does it have a temp-guage?
If not, how do you reckon its getting 'hot'? If so, is the guage reading right? Sender, guage, dodgy connection?

Is the radiator full of coolant?

Is thge rad clogged with mud?

Is the thermostat opening?

Any hoses colapsed, leaking, crushed?

Is the water-pump shagged? or full of shit?

Do you have a haynes manual?

Fault finding secton should tell you EVERYTHIG to check for a symptom like that......
