Am I the only one who is fed up with the shite weather we have had to endure this summer? As a fair weather rider who refuses to get his pride and joy dirty(actually I'm too lazy to clean it so I don't like to soil it in the first place!!) how many good days can you count that have been great for a long ride(more than 3 hours) without getting drenched before you get home? Summer, I must have missed it again. Crying or Very sad

Stop being such a baby. I rode from Cardiff to Brecon in some filthy horrible weather, the way back to Worcester when the weather cleared made it all worthwhile. One of my best rides so far Wink

I can understand only wanting to ride in good weather, I used to not care, but now it grows on me. Not wanting to risk dropping it in the rain etc...

But, I do anyway, because it still feels fantastic. Maybe not as fun as a sunny ride, but it still gives me the thrill I always get riding my bike. Thumbs Up

Try it.

Thumbs Up

Personally I don't have much of a problem riding in the rain, as long as I miss drain covers and oil spills, but I tend to avoid those in the dry anyway. Just get a crude one piece suit and keep it to hand for when it pisses it down. Smile.

Usually the bike can go much further than you push it in the wet, but obviously don't overdo it Wink

The last two weeks have been a bit hit and miss here - with some pretty hefty shower this last week or so.

The rest of the summer has been fantastic, can't complain really. Not too hot, not too changeable; ideal conditions. I even got my NC30 out a few times.

You sure you're not just suffering from memory loss?

Im fed up to. You know what we should do is make a petition and take it to 10 downing street demanding a change to the British summer weather.

Seriously though the UK weather has always been like this and probably always will be. Its a case of buy some wet weather gear and deal with it or sell the bike and just use a car. Thumbs Up

May/June was pretty damn good. I clocked up quite a few miles on the TZR. July/August has been crap.

I tend not to go out if it is chucking it down outside the front door, but if it is over cast and chucking it down while I'm out I don't mind.

Yea, I'd agree.

Start of the summer was excellent, had plenty of rideouts. It's just the end of summer this year that has been a bit wet - hardly a 'piss poor summer' though...

You're a lunatic. June was unbelievably good, as was July - blazing days, zero rain. In fact it was so dry that I was actually wanting rain for the garden. At least 6 weeks of virtual drought.

Just a shame my bike is in bits in the garage.

Agreed, same in Reading too. My problem is that my work has sent me abroad for some of the best weather over the summer, and then when I take a week off, it rains. I'd say we've had a good summer overall though.

We had absolutely tropical weather here for all of May, June and July. There were a couple of days in July when it rained but not all day. However, we've only had a couple of dry days in August and today was one!! Mr. Green

What you need to do is get an offroad bike, so that you can ride in all weather and enjoy it for what it is - best thing I ever did! Thumbs Up

It's been shit apart from a few weeks really.. the duke's been soaked and covered in shit plenty of times already so i'm past the point of caring if it gets wet / dirty anymore, i kind of prefer it too as before it'd "never seen rain" and now i don't give a shit. Thumbs Up

April-July were nice down here in Medway. June and July in particular had loads of sunny, very warm and dry weather. August has been shite, mostly. Overall, pretty decent summer, compared to the previous three. But nothing to write home about compared to great ones like 1989, 1995, 2003 and 2006.

The year round English weather is best discribed as 2 weeks of sunhine in the "summer", and 2 weeks of snow in the "winter"
The remaining 48 weeks are just boring grey shoite ........ so get used to it

I'm a bit glad we've had some rain this past week as I've only been riding for a week and I want to get used to the bad weather so I can adjust my riding accordingly.

Of course it would be lots better if it were nice outside, but I'm not that bothered at the moment.

Yea, I thought all-in it's been pretty good this year.
Happily continue to have this kind of summer and the snow in winter.

Cool I personally thought this year was one of the better summers? Nearly the whole country was on drought watch up until the end of July.Only August has been a bit poor, but still not too bad for getting out.

Get out in the rain, coming out of roundabouts with the rear wheel spinning, you've not lived until you've done some drifting on a bike.

Last year I went from Belfast to Portsmouth via the Belfast to Birkenhead ferry. I done it on a 125 with provisional plates and it rained constantly.

It took me 11 hours because I got lost a couple of times and my waterproofs gave up the ghost after about 3 hours. I arrived saturated and dripping everywhere.

Riding in the rain doesnt bother me too much, yes its uncomfy and yes you get soaked but thats biking in britian.

Remember, it could have been worse.

Its been good, more miles on my bike this year than the last two Razz had great weather at the end of June for one of my week's off, went to Scotland near the end of July, weather was good, no heavy rain until I was on my way home, and couple of good weekends at the start of August, so I'm pretty happy Razz
