Axl Rose is a cunt - always was and always will be.

Its not even G+R anymore anyway.

Its a shame they lost it after Appetite, but then i guess the reason it sounded so good is because they were all on the edge.

I believe that they were never very good live. That haven't been G'N'R since Slash left.

I saw Guns n Roses when they were Guns n Roses way back in the early 90's in Slane Castle. It was one of the few occasions where the band actually all got it together and put a decent gig on. Even if they went on stage late!

This new incarnation isnt Guns n Roses. Its Axl Rose with a whole new band. He is the only member left of the original line up.

Added to the fact the new album is shite. 15 years ago it would have been a decent album but compared to todays music it just sounds dated.

Personally I think them cancelling would be a good thing. Who wants to watch a has-been flogging a dead horse!

As someone else pointed out, No slash no GNR.

Donington '88. When they really were the most dangerous band on the planet. Nowadays they're a parody. I didn't mind the last album, but only if it was understood it was Axl's solo album, NOT GnR. And it didn't have a patch on Slash's recent solo outing...

Crowd would have been fine if he hadn't turned up an hour late.
It was a crowd of festival goers standing in dodgy weather, not die hard fans. The booing and chants only started after him not turning up for some time.
Performance wasn't great when he did get there; I preferred Slash at Glastonbury (though I did lie down for everything bar the few GnR classics he played at the end).

Bit sad really, even after all these years poor old Axel hasn't realised that without Izzy,Slash,Duff and Adler he's a jumped up tosser. He used to pull this shit back then and they all left so now he's trying to wring out the name. Would be nice if he begged them all to come come back and they made him perform as the new front man for velvet revolver just to rub it in.....

Found this review from the Independant then went onto youtube and watched them performing a little of Welcome To The Jungle and agreed with the review. The whole song is there but I couldnt handle more than a couple of minutes.

Quote:
The boos must echo through Axl Rose's dressing room.

An hour after he and the shattered substitutes for his band, Guns N' Roses, are due onstage, he still refuses to walk out to play to his public. When he does, with the title track for the album Chinese Democracy, which it took him 18 ludicrous years to finish, the boos barely relent. The Reading Festival's proud British rock crowd treat this exhausted, insulting star with contempt.

At the end of the first night of what may end as a legendary Reading Festival, the car crash that was expected of Rose duly piled into a wall.

His scraped-smooth, red-raw skin makes Mickey Rourke's look normal. His cheap silver jacket looks like one you might pick up outside a Las Vegas gig by a Guns N' Roses tribute act, who would play with more commitment. His voice loosely recalls Cartman, South Park's eight-year-old anarchist, when whining about his homework.

The early part of the set includes cult tracks from Guns N'Roses' debut album, Appetite for Destruction, from which fans stagger away in shame. The Replacements' bassist Tommy Stinson has been dragooned into what might mercifully be Axl's last stand. He can do nothing for the sad, slack stumble this band has become. Even "Welcome to the Jungle" is dribbled out with no meaning. Fireworks flare to fool the rubes, Axl sputters, and lets his career die. Only the bell-boy still owed money at whatever Royal Berkshire hotel he's staying after this nightmarish one-night stand might wish him well, for one night only.

For "Sweet Child O' Mine", he changes into a red check shirt that would go down well in a country bar on a slow Monday. He tinkles away at a keyboard – as if he's an artist – but never says sorry when he falls far short. The contempt of this tinny, redundant show by a blissfully ignorant ex-star is mutual long before the end.

And the Welcome to the Jungle link to Torture the ex gnr fans like myself

Of course. The man's a prick, always has been, always will be.

However, he'll always hold a small place in my heart for punching someone I like even less in the face. Smile
