Hey.

I know you are all fans of a good night out and debauchery here, so thought this would be the best idea for getting inspiration.

Getting married in late December and am going on my stag do with 6 other bloke to Barcelona from Fri 3rd Dec through to Sun 5th Dec. All flights are booked and have got a 7 bed apartment booked right in the middle of Barcelona.

Now, I've been there twice before, but in the summer and with either family or my missus. Now what is it like regarding, pubs, clubs, casino's, fun stuff to do. Bearing in mind that it is the middle of winter. What is the weather like in Barcelona in December? Bit British like?

Things to avoid? Things to be careful of? (I know there will be pickpockets etc).

I'm a bit disappointed that Barcelona aren't playing at the Nou Camp that weekend, but hey ho.

Cheers.

I've been once on the lash and, to be honest, I was a bit dissapointed (although we did no research beforehand, so probably our own fault). We saw loads of pubs, but not much else.

You mentioned pickpockets etc, and you've been before so obviously you know the score. One of our group got split up and mugged (by four blokes, kicked when he was on the ground etc). Another got pickpocketed on the train from the airport.

Edit: You could always try https://www.chillisauce.co.uk/stag-weekends/barcelona/activities/

La Rambla is the main strip in Barca so is a good starting point, lots of bars and restaurants dotted along. Explore the alley ways offa it to find more. I ended up at a club called the Catwalk that had a fair bit of poontang but the beers were I think 6 euro for a bottle of Carlsberg.

For fun, late at night, walk from the bottom of La Rambla to the top and see how many whores it takes to give you the hump.

Drink at your peril on the boats at the Marina. We all met there on the first day as we all went on varying flights. Bill came in at over 300 euros for a couple of hours. That was when we found out it was 7 euro for a bottle of some lager I had never heard of before.

I went for Christmas once, it was quite an acceptable temperature if I recall. Not sunbathing, but comfortable in t-shirts kinda thing.

Nothing particularly memorable about the nightlife from what I could see. Plenty to occupy yourself with round Las Ramblas. There was a sort of marina thing down the bottom of it, and went into a few bars round there.

Steer clear of cheap house wine.

I guess you either like city type places or you don't but I wasn't particularly blown away by Barcelona, same as any other city in the world as far as i'm concerned.

Maybe I haven't the right appreciation of art and culture yet. Or something.

Right,

depending on what kind of partying you're looking for there are different places to go. In terms of pubs I can recommend:
George Payne (Urquinaona Metro Lines 1 and 4 right by the stop)
Dow Jones (c/ Bruc with c/ Valencia)
Then there are loads of pubs on the left side of Las Ramblas walking down.

Nice bars:
There's an area with a lot of cheap but fancy bars on c/ Mari Cubi, alternatively ask the taxi driver to take you to "Santalo". Good ones there: Bublic, Minimal (cheap), Eternity. Drinks will vary from 4 to 8 euro in these bars.
Down by the Barceloneta beach there is a really nice cocktail bar called Zahara which is a bit more expensive than others but worth it IMO.
By Port Olimpic (metro L4 "Vila Olimpica") there are a shitload of bars on the left hand side of the Gran Casino if looking towards the sea. Be careful though cause there are a lot of dodgy people around there and they might try to overcharge you on drinks, don't pay more than 8 euro for a drink there.

Clubs:
PORT OLIMPIC
Catwalk: Best rnb / hip hop club in BCN, also has a house room but not good enough to go there for. Casual / Smart dress code.
Opium Mar: Probably the nicest club in BCN city. Entrance fee is 15 or 20 euro depending on the night with 1 free drink. Dress very smart, shirt and smart shoes is a must.
Carpe Diem (CDLC): Lounge club which is only open til 4 am unlike most clubs, also smart dress. A bit cheaper on drinks than Opium.
Shoko: Very nice, similar to CDLC in that it closes at the same time but they have very good food during the day.

OTHER PLACES
Bikini: Good rnb, casual dress code. Best night wednesday
Otto Zutz: Several rooms, rnb and house. Casual
Sutton: Best place on a thursday IMO, smart dress.
Razzmatazz: Good techno and rock, dress however the fuck you want xD
Apollo: Similar to razzmatazz but best if you don't come in flipflops Razz

That's pretty much it. Winter is not very cold in Barcelona, and it shouldn't rain too much. Be prepared to spend a lot of cash in the clubs unless you predrink a lot in bars first...
If you need any more help PM me, and when you're there I might be able to get you on a few guest lists so you don't have to pay entry to the clubs

Thumbs Up

Hi,

Just thought i'd post some thoughts after a truly epic weekend in Barcelona in case anyone was thinking of going.

First day was pretty mental, drinking glasses of whiskey in the departure lounge at the airport at 8am kind of set the tone for the first day/night, much tactical puking was needed to get through to 2am. Highlights were - 2 mates getting phones and money stolen from some pickpockets and then going absolutely mental at the police for doing fuck all, whilst I shout "amigo amigo" to somehow try and get access to see my buddies Laughing

Walking down las ramblas and the first bar being told all drinks are free, then after necking a JD and coke being told that they were 5€ a bottle, so paid them 35 and then they said there was a till error and that it was 80 euro, in which instance we told them to fuck off and promptly run out of the bar, surprised we got away with that tbh.

Hogans australian bar on las ramblas was pretty good and the free shot of absinthe promptly made me puke.

BUT OMFG dont the coke dealers and prostitutes just fuck you off. I ended up hitting one woman on the arm when I saw her trying to pickpocket my mate, which resulted in her kicking the fuck out of my legs lmao, I was legless anyway boom boom.

2nd night was much better, went to las ramblas and then went to Razzmatazz, what an awesome club and I was surprised how chilled out and friendly spanish people really are away from the main tourist strip, but to be fair the smell of weed was very strong! had a cracking night, but 8€ for a red bull and vodka was quite a sting in the tail, got back to the apartment at 7am, but had to vacate it by 12, so pretty much had no sleep and as a result am fookin knackared after a day at work today only got back to bristol at midnight last night.

One tip: - My first experience of a strip club was a shit one, went to a place called "Showgirls", the girls were minging, the 2 free beers (Estrella) were minging and the place to be quite brutal was a dive. Probably the worst part of the whole stag do!!!
