Died in a crash in one of the indy support races at the age of 13 Sad

Not sure if anybody will remember but I posted about him a while back-
https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=152246&highlight=peter+lenz

and have been following him ever since, he's actually American not Canadian like I said in the original thread. I seriously believe he could have been the next big thing, he's had some pretty bad injuries over the last couple of years, yet still got some amazing results.

2008
5 national championship titles
3 regional championship titles
1 provincial championship title

9 international race wins
13 national race wins
22 regional race wins
17 additional podiums

RIP pete https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZiH8UT6hHA

Yep thats him, he's in the classroom scene and then at the race track. He was coached by Kieth Code since a young age, I'm not sure if its just me but I find his teaching method in his DVD's too patronizing.

Here he is with CE, I'm surprised that there was no mention of his death in the GP coverage

Very sad, the boy was a certain to look out for in the future. Not much info on the web but apparently he crashed and was hit by another racer. Thoughts go out to his family and the other lad involved. Sad

Very sad loss. I'm sure his friends and family would be touched to read all the messages of condolences and support on his facebook page.

I thought the same thing. So far as I can tell he died in a support race that preceded the GP races, yet neither Eurosport nor the BBC mentioned it. I can only assume they didn't know, but I can't understand how they'd remain oblivious to something like that.

Apparently (and as that pic shows) Lenz was the son of one of Edward's friends, so it's no wonder he was shaken up and didn't finish the race.

Maybe they wanted to delay news of his death, until all his family and friends had heard?
Or perhaps just as it's a kid, they're trying to be a bit more cautious in case of a 'backlash' against them for whatever reason.

From what I have heard Peter's father asked that no announcements be made. Many people on a racing board I frequent went to Indy, but only found out about his death when they logged onto the forum. I obviously can't speak for his father, but can only assume he did not want Peter's death in the minds of those yet to race.

Rest in Peace little racer. I didn't know you, but from everything I've heard and videos I've seen... you were quite an amazing young man, both on and off the track. Crying or Very sad
