Don't get me started on religious Sunday.

Me and the missus have no money as we're both off to Uni in a week, so pub/restaurant out of the question.

I have no food in my kitchen, we need to go somewhere to buy some food which we can cook ourselves, a meal if you will.

By we cook, I mean her, and me observe and pretend to understand.

So does anyone know any places to buy food (not fast food) open at this time of night?

Also, ideas on what to cook? Thumbs Up

There are loads of places, too many to list.
A good job it isn't 205 years ago when most places closed on early on a Saturday Closed all day Sunday and Closed another day in the week. No late night shopping and NO 24 hr shopping.

Mind you Bin men used to CARRY your bin from your back door to the bin lorry AND take it back.

They've been starving all day, it's gonna be fast and it's gonna be messy. Would you want the customers seeing you with food in your beard and all down your shirt?

The helpful guy behind the till also explained how I could get away with stealing petrol from them.

As said it is the breaking of the fast during the month of Ramadan. It is done at sundown and traditionally the first thing to be eaten is a date. Shops will close for Iftar and prayers (Salha) then reopen. Where I live even big supermarkets will offer customers and staff dates and fruit juice and announce the end of the fast over the PA .

Although I'm very tolerant of the religious type ( having thought i was too at one time) I had a lad who was using breaking of the fast as an excuse to skive or at least to stick two fingers up to me and do something other than that I had requested him to do.
Apparently his religion stated he had to break fast at 8.30pm. I did ask whether it was GMT summer or winter time as I thought it was sunset and it was still very light.
Obviously the complaint went in about me, but my employer at the time did ask to see where in the little book it said 8.30pm. The lad was told not to be so sensitive and to be more flexible as we were being flexible for him and his religious demands.
I don't want to go through every book a religion has about it's own little story and rules, but I am interested about other religions in a passing way.

I am not a religious person, in fact I am what is known as a devout athiest. I take my disbelief in god very seriously but I am very interested in religion and the religion I am exposed to most is Islam.
It is important to break the fast at the correct time, breaking it late is equal to not fasting at all.
I reap the benefits of Ramadan, sharing Iftar food with the poor and one's friends is very much part of the holy month and every couple of nights the local kids will bring me food that their mom's have prepared.
I love where I live Very Happy

Surely fasting for longer makes you more religious. I would have thought breaking fast too early was naughty. what did they use before Timex? I have no issue with religious quirks but to say 8.30pm and not 8.25 or 8.37pm is being a bit daft.

I wouldn't get upset by having Xmas on 23rd December if I didn't have a calander handy.

Late night shopping, even at the likes of Tesco Express has a premium. Might be cheaper to go the takeaway route Thumbs Up

Well the cameras were forward facing so if I rode in, filled up and pushed the bike out backwards they would never get my plate.

The mini-somerfields in Woodcote open pretty late for the record - think Goose was saying it's still 9pm on Sunday or something.

I went to school in Woodcote - I remember being caught by a teacher trying to buy whiskey in Somerfields...
