Can some one tell me if the DSA have SLA's or some type of charter etc. set out by them or the goverment with regards to the amount of tests they have to provide in each area.

Just that I am finding it hard to beleive that I am trying to be legal and do it all by the book , but they are not helping things, and the police may wonder why there are so many uninsured / unlicened drivers!!

my wife passed her test 2 weeks ago

her test was originally booked for October, she couldn't get an earlier one, she phoned up twice a day every day asking for cancellations, she did something similar with the swerve test oo

I wonder if driving/riding schools block book them or something?

You will when you get your insurance quotes.....

Oh and thinking, well why should I bother with ins as well. Is really going to bite you in the years to come. When you get older, need to drive as part of a job.

So you have a wait a few months to get a test.... Boo Hoo.... We have all been there and stuck it out.
Even back in the 70's I can remember waiting a couple of months to get a test.
So stop bing such a winge and get on with life.

Yep, that's exactly what they do. The riding schools only have to supply a name to the DSA with one clear working day before the test date so they've seldom anything to lose by block booking.

The test is not difficult. You just need to ride by the book for ~40 minutes. Now they've got rid of the u-turn, there are very few reasons to fail.

The standards they expect you to meet are well publicised, none of it is rocket science.

The examiner isn't there to be your mate. It doesn't matter if you've driven like a saint, if (for example) you leave your indicator on after the penultimate turning, you'll fail. Them's the breaks with a pass/fail test.

Lol lets not mince words if you can't ride a bike for 35 mins at The minimum of the test standard, you can't ride a bike. Simples. Stop using lame excuses for a lack in your riding ability.

In Response to the OP, have you tried contacting a local riding school to see if you can book a test through them? As someone has already suggested, schools block book the lot of them.

Agree with above. Start looking closer to home for why you are not passing. Every examiner can only mark you on what you do wrong. If he fails you then you did something dangerous or seriously wrong.

You may just need to gain some road sense before going back. Try to constantly drive like you would in the test and then when you go back to your test you won't have any bad habits.

Also, anyone who rides without insurance and/or a licence is an idiot. And their mistakes cost us law abiding citizens in insurance.

amen to everything above.

Theres only one motorcycle examiner at my local test centre, and the first time i took my test, i got 3 minors then failed on a major obsevation where some tool overtook me out of nowhere.

Even the examiner was pissed off that he had to fail me, but at the end of the day, he's right, i should have seen that bastard coming. If not, its only gonna be me picking the bits of road out of my face.

Its annoying, its jarring, but its even more jarring being pulled over by the cops 30 miles from home and being told to walk home in full leathers and a helmet because you were riding illegally
