PostPosted: 22:19 - 30 Aug 2010    Post subject: SV650 Restrictor Kit - Cost and Whereabouts? Reply with quote

Hey guys, I am looking at possibly gettings an SV650 this week. However, its going to be second hand and most likely not from a dealer. So therefore I won't be in contention for the free ones that Suzuki offer.

Does anyone know how much they cost, if I can get a cheap one somewhere and where?

Thanks for the help guys!

Your best bet is to haggle with the dealer to include the bike getting restricted.

I'm hoping to avoid a trip to a dealer actually. I want a cheaper second hand bike, privately sold.

Sorry I miss read it.

What year are you looking at? Some are computer restricted some are restricted by washers.

If you pay for an FI kit it'll cost you about £160

Hit the SV forums mate, usually people are looking to sell their old versions.

Make sure you have any idea which bike you're getting. Certain restrictions replace the ECU, which is specific to a model. If it's a carb restriction for the older SV, that could be a PITA to fit.

Good luck

Its looking like a 2009 SV. So its definitely ECU. This all seems very complicated. Damn restricted licence.

Yeah tell me about it. I ended up "giving up" and buying a new bike with a restriction in place :/

The ECU restriction is easy to fit. The easy answer is just not to bother, but you're in a whole world of shit if you get caught.

Are you aware you do not ever have to produce proof of restriction, yea they could dyno you but it is unlikely
