No budget cup 2011

I'm posting this for a mate who is looking to get a couple of likeminded guys together in order to buy a bike and campaign it in the No budget cup in 2011.

If you haven't heard of the no budget cup, it's a cheap endurance race series for people that haven't held a race licence...or haven't held one for at least 10 years or haven't got a national licence..or something..whatever. Full details here:

The bikes have to be built between 1990 and 2000.

Basically, Rob is trying to get 3 guys together (he's based in Lincoln, Lincs) to buy a bike for about £1500 and split the cost equally. Naturally the cost of the races will be split 3 ways also and if all goes to plan (does it ever) then a great time will be had by all, friendships will be formed forever and children will be named after team-mates. In reality, you'll probably all just want to pour the spare fuel on eachother and throw matches around afterwards, but you'll never know unless you give him a call on 07963524468 and discuss the possibilities!

I would possibly be interested, but ended up going for a National Class licence after my second year racing, as I certainly wasn't going to be able to get one the next year!

Definitely be tempted to try it on a minitwin style bike as I seemed to get on quite well with them. Could be tempted to give them a shout anyway and see if they'd make an exception for my National licence, seeing that I suck in reality .

£75 club membership seems damn cheeky for a 'no budget' series.
There pit details, even though it's an endurance race, seem far too over the top considering how much bigger clubs manage fine.

Looked in to the established Hotrax's endurance series again, which I've considered in the past - if you've already got an ACU licence, it comes out about £15 cheaper per rider! And you can use your own tyres, which can probably save you quite a lot.
Also, two people can use their own bikes and swap transponders, so no arguments of "you broke my bike" .

And no, I'm not that bitter that they won't allow me to play .

Im planning on racing in this with a few mates next year, its dirt cheap if you just budget it.
its so cheap we are planning to do the wales, belgium and french round.

Not really that cheap, as above, it seems - a bit more so if you do a few rounds probably. But still no where near doing off-road enduros. Try £45 for four hours racing per rider and about £10 total bill/half an hour journey to get there .
