Sad broke my scaphoid in my wrist and a couple of of other small fractures in fingers in a snowboarding accident a few weeks ago! Had it in a cast after they manipulated it but after going back for an xray had to have surgery and k wires (candy cains) in it...

anyone ever broke this bone or have some sort of experience with it? having broken it i haven't been able to ride the bike or get more track time! Anyone know how long it will take to repair? can barely move it

Evil or Very Mad

Never broken anything apart from a knuckle. But with it being a wrist injury you could be looking at a long time to heal. Found this which might help and alarm you!

Broke it a year and a half ago in a relatively low speed highside This was the result, had it manipulated 1 month in a cast, didn't set right so had it pinned, another month in a cast, healed fine and was riding my bike again before I had the cast off, 2 months of physio and I have pretty much a full range of motion, not sure what difference the other fractures will make.

Broke the right one in '03, re broke it in '05. It's still broken & has a screw holding it together. Never did heal right.

The scaphoid is a nasty, yet innocuous, one to break as it has such a weak blood supply and it is really hard to properly immobilise. In some people it never knits together properly and can cause problems forever.

Best of luck.

I broke my Scaphoid many moons ago, I think I was in plaster for 2-3months. I was only 14 back then so I would assume the time for it to heal would decrease. Although this probably isn't any help to you whatsoever I thought I'd post it up Smile

Broke mine 3 years ago, took a while to 'heal' but it still gives me a lot of pain. It is so weak that i cant open jars etc with it.
