Samsung Galaxy S must be for many the best smartphone on the market right now. There are only two other competitors to the title: iPhone 4 and HTC Desire. They are all very good phones and only personal preference can decide.

Anybody has got Galaxy S? Or am I the only one here? Cool

A week ago I wanted iPhone. I don't want it anymore. After a few days with Galaxy S I truly love the phone. If I was buying now I wouldn't look at iPhone (still mainly because of the price, but now not only). And HTC Desire is not Galaxy S so I wouldn't buy that either.

Whatever choice iPhone 4, Galaxy S or Desire you will be very happy with either of them.

My experience with iPhone is very short. I went to a shop to buy iPhone or HTC Desire. I spend about an hour playing with them and I ended up with Samsung Galaxy S Laughing

They are all pretty much the same. It's down to personal preference. Im my case I fell in love with the 4 inch AMOLED screen.

Ive got the Samsung Galaxy S, i used to have the HTC Hero and had mostly HTC smartphones before that. The HTC Hero has had a screen issue with the phone thinking i was pressing another part of the screen. Anyway the Samsung Galaxy S is great, the only downside is the camera, it does not have LED flash or any flash at all so night photos are a no no. The Samsung Kies software for syncing with the PC is not the best compared to HTC etc. The hardware volume button is a must for me as i can change the volume of my music on my bike through my jacket. Another cool feature is swype i fecking hate texting but this helps with texting and emails.

My missus got a Galaxy S yesterday on a free upgrade.

I had a little play with it last night and must say I was very impressed. I've had an iphone for the last years and will definitely move to android come upgrade time. I'm not really interested in the iPhone4, that's more a case of "been there, done that" kinda thing.

The Galaxy S looks like it does everything I have now got used to having with a phone plus it has the added benefit of not being tied to iTunes.

Any smart phone that isn't an iphone is good in my book.

For me it was HTC sense that attracted me to the Desire. Smile

The galaxy s is a very smart phone, im not really one for putting my phone in a case but dont want it to become scratched etc so i went for one of these. https://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/15846137/Zagg-InvisibleSHIELD-For-Samsung-I9000-Galaxy-S-Maximum-Coverage-SHIELD/Product.html

Not cheap but its pretty good, you can get it just as a screen protector or you can get the back and the front. Its cut to size so you dont have to bother cutting it up and you get a spray bottle that stops the screen protector sticking so you can position it correctly.

I had the maximum coverage one on my Legend, most awful thing ever!

It isn't invisible at all, you can see it as it makes the phone shiney/glossy. Not forgetting it makes it feel rubbery which isn't nice at all.

Then there is the 'indestructable' or however they describe it. It fell out of my pocket as i sat down and it 'cut' the invisible shield on the corner and marked my phone. When i emailed them about the lifetime warranty thing, they said that because the phone was in my pocket at the time, they wouldn't supply me with another as you aren't meant to sit down with the phone in your pocket, WTF!

Anyway, when i got round to selling the phone, i peeled it off as it looked a bit manky (dirt all the way round the edges of it). I noticed that the screen protector bit had shrunk leaving around 2-3mm all the way around the edge of the screen uncovered. When i did peel it off (came off fairly easily with no residue left behind), it was an awful yellowy/brown colour.

I wouldn't reccomend them at all, since i've had my Desire, i've not used a case at all (apart from the first couple of days) and it doesn't have a mark on it apart from the corner of the screen.

My opinion on the maximum coverage screen protector has changed, after removing the protectors the phone feels great and the touch screen is much more responsive. I will just have to keep it out of a pockets with keys or coins.

I am thinking of getting the Galaxy Tab when it comes out over an ipad.

Looks good I am not yet convinced of the touchscreen speed on the Galaxy as android imo is not a full fledged touchscreen OS yet.

I have read gingerbread should sort out any lag though.

as for an iphone, I have the iphone 4 and I love it

however

An iphone is not worth having unless its jailbroken

Why do you want a tablet? Just curious as i've seen people that have bought a tablet get a keyboard for them or a case/keyboard then is it not just better to have a laptop/netbook?

I was looking at the Asus Eee Pad to use for viewing photos that i have taken on location, but then i can do that with a netbook/laptop. I just can't justify getting a tablet to replace my netbook.

lol my answer may not shock

Because its the shiney shiney shiney

Really though, I use my iphone a lot for surfing at home and would like something more usable with a bigger screen and I want to be able to control my home media etc.

I do have a macbook and a Pc but there is something "handy" about digesting the web with a small device and no mouse or keyboard.

Cool just curious as my netbook is a door stop as the screen size is not very use able and keys are too small (it was bought to use as a prop for photography). Wondering now if i could use a tablet as a remote for me av system in the new house. The Galaxy Tab looks pretty small compared to the iPad might hold off and wait to see what the Asus Eee PAD is like.
