They may modify it but they will never scrap it. You get bad publicity from dead learner bikers who never had basic training, bad publicity means lost votes.

Not sure about the CBT thing, but I wouldn't worry about the DAS too much, just get plenty of lessons if you are nervous, if you can ride a 125 alright you will find the 500's fine, the extra power makes things easier the only thing that works against the bigger bikes is their weight.

Cbt is unchanged it seems.

Full A license is now harder to get however, no longer automatic upgrade after 2 years, 2 year limit remains however you must pass a theory, on road and off road test at each progression, rather than automatic entitlement. DAS age changes to 24 from 21.

I've found something even more scarier:

Woah Fuck me! You're right that is one scary bastard piece of legislation.

Fingers crossed it only applies to the new guys.

It is scary....

New EU licences are coming out in 2013 anyway. More expense and things becoming closer to 1984...

I cannot find anything else about this 10 year retest thing anywhere on Google. Luckily it only says that the EU commission has passed it. Our government could see sense and not agree to it.

Even then, 'Phased in' by 2032, so we'll be a fair bit behind that too I shouldn't wonder.

Quite a few years to worry about that I reckon!

A bit like they did with the whole introducing Part 1 and Part 2 tests on the DAS (costing millions and huge inconvienience and being way behind schedule) because the speed req. for two parts of the test is 32mph you mean??
