Anyone else do this?

It started out small... I used to have a few grapes as I was shopping..

Now I plan my shopping around mealtimes and have my meal in store! My favourites are those fridges raider things and honey glazed ham.

And I be a bit sneaky about hiding the packages. Very Happy

Thumbs Up

Technically as far as I know there's nothing illegal about it either as long as you take the packages to the checkout, which you don't but it's a formality! Thumbs Up!

Always! Hot counter, get some chicken wings/nuggets or similar, have a munch and put the packaging behind something on a shelf.

I have had staff approach me and tell me to go to the checkout with the bag and they then follow me around till I can be arsed to go pay for them.

There is nothing more edifying or attractive while in the supermarket browsing the aisles then someone snarfing & grunting food down their fat necks.

Can you not just wait till you get home? Eating food, surrounded by food with the prospect of even more food... It probably won't run away.

Another pet hate I have I'm afraid; people eating in innappropriate public places. (That means anywhere outside a kitchen or designated eatery that is near me.)

Oh the thievery I have indulged in with supermarkets. There was one six-month period in my youth when I'd be into Waitrose at least once a week and walk out with a trolley loaded to the max with grub.

Fifteen years ago we were going into Somerfields on a regular basis and walking out with cases of beer and bottles of vodka, and laughing when we spotted the cashiers giving us filthy looks.

But walking around one eating the produce and dumping the packet? The occasional grape or mushroom is my limit.

It isn't that, if I get chicken nuggets, I am not waiting for them to get cold before eating them. Who cares when I eat them. If I am hungry at that time then I may well eat some. If not, I will wait till I am.

I dislike it when people say we should do stuff because it is what others do or it is the "proper" way of doing something. Does it really matter?

I've been partial to the odd "trolley dash" as we called it. Stocking up a trolley with loads of shit and just walking out with it. We came up with the ingenius method of taking carrier bags in with us and bagging it up as we went around to avoid suspicion on walking out.

We did it several times until one of the girls who did it got caught and nicked for it. She got 50hrs CS in court and we never did it again.

There is a world of difference between eating and paying and eating and not paying.

Obviously eating without paying is shoplifting. If you wanted to be selfish, I watched a tv show recently that said 2/3 of shoplifting offences are dealt with instore and police arent involved. This is probably done on the basis on the value of items, and how blatant you are or whether you have done it before. However there will be an element of chance so I reckon some security people might pursue it even when you think they wont.

Richard Madeley clearly thought he would get away with pretending he had forgotton to pay for a bottle of wine.

There is a school of thought that the more blatant you are, the less likely someone would be to stop you, whereas if you look sneaky and are looking around to see if you are being watched, it attracts attention.

However, the blatant way just seems rude, like you are rubbing their faces in it. Theft from a supermarket feels like a victimless crime if no one seems to notice.

If I were to do shoplifting, I'd sneak stuff out.

On the question of eating stuff that you intend to pay for, I quite like the idea of it, as you are technically not doing anything wrong, it's a bit like treating the place as your own home walking around the supermarket in your pyjamas and not giving a fuck who notices. Although I quite like the idea of it, I doubt I would do it.

Another thing is, normally with shoplifting, they prove the crime by what they find you are carry, so I'm not sure how this would work if you have eaten the evidence and stashed the packets around the store.

CCTV. To be fair you'd probably just get banned from the branch if you kept doing it.

Anyway it's not victimless you're stealing my bonus by nicking stuff so I'm the victim. Wink

How does that work ? Your bonus is dependant on the amount of stealing in the store ? Give me a bit of detail on that as I haven't heard of it before.

Bonus is dependant on how much Profit they make a year, after losses such as theft.
