Hi Everyone,

In the future I'm going to service my own bike, so I'm busy buying some good tools off the internet, etc.

I was checking the peep hole, giving excess to the centre of the magneto, located on the left hand side of the engine which is No:10 allen or hex key way, anyhow I have a no:10 allen key and so decided to unscrew it and take a look. To my great surprise engine oil came pissing out?? So what I'm saying is:- there is engine oil in the magneto, is that normal? The bike is a Suzuki GN125H

The engine is currently sweet no probs whatsoever.

Cheers

Got a pic?

Usually the magneto is not immersed in oil unless this is some new thing I haven't heard about.

I'm with Rob!
My father-in-law PDI'd a Renault once that had only one drag link. When I worked for Vauxhall Motors the list of foul ups was ridiculous!
Wise move Olanzapine, the only two people who get near my car or bike are me and my son.

My GS doesn't have a wet magneto. I am pretty sure it doesn't anyway. Can't remember taking any cover off.

The alternator is cooled by oil, if the oil level drops below minimum they will frie the reg/rec!
Common GS problem.

I think the electric start models have a wet side for lubritaining the gears from the starter motor to the flywheel, i will have a look later as there is one in the workshop.

Yes I agree, have just checked and they are wet alternator and as already stated the oil is there to cool the coils and it is the same oil that is shared by engine and gearbox so the OP does not have a problem.

Hi Guys,

Yes radical you are right, the starter motor is geared to the back of the alternator mechanism, I checked using the Haynes manual.Your confirmation doubly confirms.
I would just like to thank everyone who replied, so thanks very much everyone , my mind is at rest now, phew!

Cheers

I think your bike has the Suzuki engine while the electric start engines are made for Suzuki by Hyosung.
