Does anyone know how the cooling fan earths on the cbr?

Basically I have taken the rad off for a paint and refresh as it is looking dire, and when painting I don't want to paint over and ruin any earthing points. The cooling fan has an earth cable attaching to the radiator itself so I will keep this part clear of paint, but then there is no obvious earthing point between the radiator and the rest of the bike (all of the mounts have rubber inserts).

Checking the wiring diagram suggests that the two wires feeding into the fan are not associated with earthing.

Could the fan be earthing through the coolant by design? If I block a grounding point I have not noticed could any voltage applied across the coolant promote ionisation and hence corrosion of the rad/engine?

if there are two wires, are you sure that one of them isnt the earth? also, it could be ac instead of dc going to the fan?

Two wires, most likely one is the 12v feed and 'tother goes to the sensor/switch.
Didn't you note where they were attached before removal?

Roy.

Cheers guys, I was looking at the wires wrong, the earth attaching to the radiator also doubles as the earth connection between the fan and the loom. My hazy memory from the night in the garage before didn't serve me very well.

Cheers for the help Thumbs Up .
