Bike and Car? or Just Bike

Just out of interest, how many own and use a car regularly and also own a bike that is used as transport.

Just wondering as my car is on its way out (old, clutch dying, tyres nearly done, cat falling apart, anti roll bushes shot blah blah) so I might just get rid once I have a bike sorted.

I do have the occasional need to use a car, but my girlfriend will let use hers no probs.

It makes a lot of sense to get car and bike test done as soon as possible.
It will only get more expensive and difficult to do.
Plus many elements are similar so you are going to find the car test easier when it's fresh in you rmind.

I have a bike and I share the car with the misses. I generally ride the bike whenever I can unless its really shite outside.

As I say, I'm thinking of getting rid of the car. I already use the train quite a bit for the long journeys so nothing would change there.

I guess the way to tell is to sorn the car and give it a go for a month or two before getting rid totally.

Bike is a toy.

My car is my main transport as it is dry, safe, cheaper to run, can carry lots of stuff/people, is less likely to get nicked and I couldn't give a crap about it getting scuffed scratched abused etc etc.

Always had both but now the bike is mine and I just use the wifes car as needed.

I mostly use my bike, including when it's cold and wet, but still have a car for bigger shopping trips etc.

Used to commute 60 miles a day on the bike in all weather.

I've now moved out of the big smoke so the bike is a plaything rather than a workhorse. Sadly, for practical reaasons, the bike would have to go before the car. Fortunately, that should never be an issue.

They're both for general transport and they're both for fun. I just use whichever I feel like or whichever fits the job best.

Only have the bike at the moment, insured on the womans car for when I need it. I miss having a car, but don't need one and can't really justify having one but not using it.

Saving a lot of cash.

Use both. Normally can't be arsed to take the bike out in bad weather if I need to go somewhere, don't see any point!

Only have a bike. I've always used it during all weather, including snow. But I am very tempted to get a small van. Something to use in the worst of weathers, travel long distances, carry bikes and other people in comfort.

But it's all about the money. I can't justify the cost of something that expensive, that I'd only use occasionally.

At the moment only have a bike, but having a car alongside is far far better, especially for tasks such as shopping (dull i know but its gotta happen) and also far better in winter regardless of what people will say about it making you a better rider and obscenely cooler.

Just cant afford to insure/buy a car at the minute with being at uni, i could sell the bike and buy a car, but thats boring

I used to be bike only but I couldn't live without a car these days. As Bendy says sometimes I use the bike for practicality, and sometimes I use the car for fun.

I had both, now I have neither. Though for the next 3 years I'll just have a bike. No place to keep a car, nor the money to run one. Cars are great for shopping trips, carting stuff about, taking people, but I'd always chose to use the bike over the car if I could.

Have both, admit that other than the odd commute for teh lulz the bikes are playthings (The YR5 would bankrupt me with it's fuel and oil consumption if it was ridden regularly). Car more practical and cost effective I'm afraid. Have ridden all year round for six years before passing my car test, can't say I enjoyed it TBH.

got both as well, cant afford a fun car, so iv just got something practical that i like the look of.

bikes for fun and sun. and ones for track days. and im going to get another for day to day stuff and when the weather is less nice.
