Passed my theory today after finally just beating the bastard hazard perception section.

Who's idea was that anyway? Laughing

Off to book my module 1 now, just worried about doing it on my GZ125. Anyone done Mod 1 on a GZ/VT125 or similar?

Can't wait to get rid of the thing now

Good work on the theory. Can't help with advice about the Mod 1 unfortuantely, did mine on an ancient 500 with an engine like a tractor. Good luck though!

Recently passed my mod 1. Didn't take any lessons, had a quick practice before I went up to the centre and passed it first time without any trouble at all. If you're used to your bike, you'll have no problem. Just make sure that you gun it out of the bend on both 50kph sections, get on the throttle ASAP near the end of the bend and stay on it. Ignore the speedo and concentrate on nailing the throttle. There's a lot more space for everything than you expect. Good luck mate

Well done on gettin through the first part of the tests. Good luck on the practical.

As for the bike. as long as its working properly then there shouldnt really be a problem doing the full test on them. If you are doing the test independently then check out some of the other threads on here and youtube for tips and advice.

Well done, I hated the hazard test too - best of luck with the practical. Booking mine soon.

I did my tests on a Hyosung Cruise 2 which looks similar to your GZ125 (after a quick google search)
Passed both Mods first time. If you have experience with the machine (I had 8 months) then you should have no problem knowing how much to open her up - just make sure you do for the speed trap, and shut the throttle off when you're through.

Slow speed stuff is down to you really, no handy hints, just good clutch, throttle and rear brake control, and balance of course. Again, time on the machine helps.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the tips guys and girls, I'm doing both modules independently of a riding school although I have had a few 1 hour assessments with an instructor friend-of-a-friend.

6k miles in and I think I'm finally going to take the step up to a full licence and get a nice big bike Smile

If your doing your test on a 125 you'll be restricted to under 500cc for 2 years so that 'nice big bike' might have to wait unless you decide to go for a 450cc or something similar

You can still get a big bike but get it restricted to 33 bhp (and will probably have to for a 500cc anyway) or just not worry about the restriction. AFAIK, some bikes respond better than others to restriction, but that's why the stepping stone is there.

Exactly what I plan to do. I could wait another year until I turn 21, but I think I'd rather do my A2 now, restrict the bike and do Accelerated Access as soon as I turn 21.

If you can afford it, probably the best way to go as then at least you have a test if you fail DAS
