Do Helmets bed in much?

I've trying helmets on, and wondered if experience tells anyone that the fit of helmets loosens up a little after some use?

Large fits in the shop, fairly snug but can just about get a finger tip in at the front.

Med fits in the shop but is very snug, dosnt hurt after wandering about in it for 10 mins but no room for finger at all in the front, quite a squeeze of the cheeks too, so to speak!

If they give a little then the med would be the one I reckon.

It was a Shoei Qwest by the way.

Also, when I mentioned sharp tests, asking about the helmets ratings the shop guy just rolled his eyes as moved on to another subject....am I missing something there?

Yes they do bed in a little.

I too have a Shoei and had the larger cheek pads in mine! Don't forget that you can always replace the pads if they 'give' too much or if you do decide that are a little too firm. As long as you don't get any pain or discomfort I'd go for the firmer fit, as it's surprising how much the lid will lift at speed

As long as it's snug without causing any unneccessary pain or discomfort, go with the medium...

The pads etc will bed in and give a little over the first few weeks of use, which I found to my cost some time ago when my 3 month old lid started lifting slightly at 65mph+

Oh, I was quite surprised how much extra you have to pay for a lid with a design on it. The helmet in question goes up from an already hefty £260 to a whopping £340.

Dont get me wrong, I can see where the initial base price comes from, these things arent cheap to make. But £80 for paint job surprised me a little.

My £400 AGV no longer fits me since it bedded in.

Has since been replaced, still makes a nice shelf ornament though.

I was quite disappointed in how much the cheek pads in my shoei bed in. The rest still fits fine, but after a year the cheek pads have depressed so much I worry about how much protection it actually still gives me.

I'll be buying some new pads very shortly. Most likely a size up too.
