On Friday myself, Mac_Kaliba and our mate Andy went off to investigate a quarry not too far from us.

Basically its a turn up and ride jobby - its privately owned but riders and 4 wheel drivers arent turned away.

Anyway, pics -

And of course Mac had to show off for the camera... Wink

Overall it was a top day, i got the bike stuck upto its axles in shitty muddy water but managed to get it out on my own as Liam and Andy were too busy playing Rolling Eyes Laughing

Cool (even more cool as on an inappropriate bike!! Very Happy)!! Thanks for sharing!! Thumbs Up

So if it is privately owned, do you have to pay to play?

If not, I am surprised they let you play (modern H&S and litigation and all that).

No, no paying involved, just turn up and play.

Not sure how it gets around all the legislation (i suspect it doesn't) but from what i can gather people who ride/drive there do so on the understanding that you do so at your own risk.

There is another one not far away aswell, i believe that one is owned by Gloucs council and again you just turn up and ride.

Four marks shouldn't be too far for you to get to - it has jumps as well as an 'ok' practice track.

Interesting stuff.

There's a quarry just down the road from me where I've known a lot of people to go down on dirt bikes, or road going bikes.

But, said quarry is also privately owned and I've always been a bit put off by the idea of riding there.

Will have to find out, as this looks quite fun.

EDIT: Not sure if it's worth mentioning, but aforementioned quarry also has big gates/obstructions to prevent entry, but gaps in fences and obvious bike trails into it. This is why I'm a bit put off by going anywhere near it. Rightly so, I think?

Cheers,

Steve.

They are in the process of pulling down a privately owned, local bing - which was fucking epic for downhilling and off-roading. They've even gone to the trouble of putting a metal fence around it. Bastards!

we have one up here in Bradford which is quite famous. Good places to learn how to ride Thumbs Up although now there is a no parking sign in the layby so ya can't go unless your bike is road registered. Taken the SM on there a few times its good fun Very Happy
