Hi all

Mother just called me (she’s late 60's) and informed me of a call she had just recieved.

Basically a woman on the phone informed her, her Pc was at risk and had a problem that needed to be sorted out by an engineer.

She asked her to run the command prompt and type ‘inf’ in to it and run it. Then informed her all the files listed here where virus's and the like and shouldn’t be there.

She then told her to go on to www.logmein123.com and they would put her through to an engineer that would be able to fix her PC.

At this point my mothers telling the woman that I deal with all the PC problems and the woman informed her that I wouldn’t be able to do this as it needs a special engineer and there will be none in her town.
My mother responded to this by saying that’s ok, my son doesn’t live in the town.

Anyway my mother then took a number to get back in touch with them after speaking to me.

Total scam and it distressed my mother a little, though luckily she still had the sense to check with me first rather than following blindly what she had been told.


Now the question is what to do about such a scam.

Would it be wrong of me to post up their phone number for the BCF masses to call and generally harass these scum bags (020 331 863 62 – Natasha)
Or request any of you with a bit more time than myself get me as many details on these people as possible, hell if anyone with the inclination wants to bring down their website I sure their "customers" wouldn't miss their expert support.

There are websites you can post this stuff onto, including the phone number. Then when you get something that sounds a bit dodgy you can type the phone number into google and it pops up loads of warnings and details about the problem. Add this number to one of those sites and tell your mum to google the phone number in future and find out if it's real or not.

Log me in are a proper company, my lot use them for remote PC log in to work on customers BMS head ends.


The scammer is pretending to be from log me in hence the 123 in the web address.

I use Logmein, it's genuine software being used to scam.
