i got a 1978 suzuki ts 100 the other day for free but had no key so i put the wires together.orange and red.i got fire up to the coil but nothing coming out.the coil is good because it works on my other bike.now this bike has a very old battery in it and i am just wondering if the battery is no good is this the reason it is not getting fire.

if your getting a current to the coil and you say the coil is good can only be the ht lead plug cap or spark plug

yes i have.i took the coil and plug off the running bike and swaped them around.and still no fire.put the old coil and plug on the running bike and had fire so i know the coil is good.then i looked at the stator and every thing there is just like new.like i say if i put a test light to the wire going to the coil it lights up when i kick it.it seems to me like i don't have a ground and i don.t know were to look for it.

Ignitons for this bike are 20 quid online. If this bike is one your doing up, your best off eliminating electrical gremlins and concentrating on the mechanic problems which are much easier to identify and address.

20 quid to alleviate 4 hours of hunting around a bike loom looking for poor connections and dodgy resistance on copper wire is well worth it in my book.

how many wires are in the ignition switch?
as mentioned earlier, get a patter ignition switch & key, seen them on ebay for little more than a tenner.
cant see anyone helping you hotwire a bike on a forum,
