Living in a rural area I've seen some signposts in fields proclaiming "Farmers Own Seed". What are these blokes up to, having 'One Off The Wrist' into a bag of corn or what ?.

Never seen that, presuming it was by cereal fields?

Some farms keep the some grain from harvest and plant that for next year's crop. It saves a lot of money, but runs the risk of the seed developing disease and seeds from other plants, (cleavers, wild oats etc) also being drilled, which then grow.

The sign could be to let contractors know where to take the harvested grain to - a different shed etc.

It means simply that farmer has seed for sale and it's his own...not via supplier etc.... Thumbs Up
