Hello all,
Not sure what the official spec is but my ZZR isnt happy unless I set the idle speed to about 1800 rpm. Any lower and as I stop it occasially cuts out, and is a real pain to start up again.
It runs like a dream so I dont think there can be anything actually wrong, its just that 1800rpm sounds high.

Anyone know what the official idle speed is ?

Thanks

Stu Very Happy

Have the carbs been balanced recently, my zxr ran like a pig at low revs before I did them.

Think the acutal idle speed is 1250 iirc, if it's the same as the zxr.

In the 1991 owners manual it states between:

1150 and 1250

Edit:

Have you tried giving it a good service: change air filter, check fuel filter etc.

For my pass bike experience " ZZR400 90 ", your bike must be " vacuum leak ".
need to replace the parts as follow:

https://www.megazip.ru/ru/bike/kawasaki/view/1475/118/3049#g3049
part no :16065-1223 x 4

How to check air leak.

This is basic data from kawasaki site japan. (site in japanese).

Yea, sounds like its running a bit lean to me. You could go for the quick wins first by replacing the sparkplugs and gaskets.

You havnt replaced the airfilter or exhaust recently have you ?
