Hi all, I'm off out with some mates greenlaning tomorrow evening. Meeting at Broadbridge Heath Tesco's petrol station at 5:30 pm for a few hours riding lanes around Dorking way. Returning to Broadbridge Heath for about 8:30 pm.

If anyone fancies coming along PM me with your mobile number to let me know - That way I know to wait! Very Happy

I might be up for some gentle/easy riding on Sunday (depending on how I feel after moped racing on Saturday Smile ).

Ride Report: 7th September 2010 - Mid Week SE OffRoad Ride:
Route: Bocketts Run (in reverse).
Weather: Dry and sunny (until it got dark Smile
Attendees: Me, BigToby, Nasher, Ollie, Stewie ? , ? (apologies, cant remember all the names).

Perfect weather ... Heavy rain the previous 2 nights, but dry and sunny on the day of the ride.
Made for muddy fun while enjoying the bright surroundings Smile

Started at Coldharbour end of Bocketts run and rode it in reverse.
Good turn out and a steady pace.
As usual, the vast experience and good looks of the riders meant there is nothing major to report ... just a good all round ride.
(until it got dark)

Pictorial Report:

Start of the ride - Nice and orderly:

Very quickly realised that even in bright daylight, the lanes undercover were going to get dark very quickly:
https://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t69/silky666/Bike%20Stuff/secondlane.jpg

You can see how bright it is through the trees:

Lost and Scared:
I dont want to point fingers - but the ride leader was at fault here - Tall fella, rides a KTM300 !Wink :

Steaming
(but not the 'running through a crowded train robbing people kind') - Or is someone on fire ?

One of BigTobys snack breaks - "I need to keep my energy levels up" Smile :

One of BigTobys toilet breaks - "I have a weak bladder" Smile

Chalk Hill caused the usual slipping and sliding:
https://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t69/silky666/Bike%20Stuff/chalkhillstruggle.jpg

It got dark very quickly.
It was at this point I realised my headlight was facing upwards and allowing me a clear view of the tree tops (circled):

No ride should be completed without a smoke break:

End of the ride.
Great fun Loved it, Thanks guys:

My journey home:
That will be the headlight shining upwards and not forwards then !

Good to see Stewie assuming the usual position half way up the chalk hill! Laughing

See why I'm after those lights now? Bloody dark isn't it!

That picture at the garage makes me look f@cking HUGE! Must be a trick of the camera.

Anyways, glad you could make it Silky and thanks for taking the piss out of me eating chocolate, despite you having begged a Mars bar off of me! Laughing

Definitely going to get some lights my badself ... would be perfect for both off-roading and mtb ridding during winter.
Having said that, It would also help if my headlight was not pointed to the tops of the trees .... made for 'interesting' riding that Smile

Yeah thanks for that Thumbs Up ... but if it hadnt been for you snacking some form of chocolate confectionary at every opportunity, I wouldnt have become so hungry.
