Half Life 2 not working

Downloaded a copy of Half Life 2 from btjunkie. Everyone has raved about it there, and it's a one click installer (no keygens etc).

Anyway, even on the lowest settings and tried on XP, Vista and normal compatability (on Windows 7).

Computer is new, but only a cheap Notebook (Acer Aspire D260), but it doesn't seem to be maxing out ram or CPU when it crashes.

Anyway, first cutscene, just as he says 'I don't wish to imply you've been sleeping on the job'... crash.

Error message comes up if you tab out, saying;

You bought a laptop, why bother with games.

Main thing I hate about laptops is the way all the hardware is weird and you can't change anything. If you get a gfx error then unless you can update drivers or something then not much you can do.

Wow you got Half life 2 to start on a notebook?

A notebook wont have the right graphics/card power to play a game like HL2, unless its some uber notebook i dont know about.

Reckons a pass for HL2, and only my CPU is lacking from the recommended settings (recommends 2.4GHz and I have 1.66GHz).
