I tried to do my A2 a couple of months back, but when I got to the test centre, the twat of an examiner noticed that my bike clocks where in KpH rather than MpH.

Where can I get the overlay stickers for my bike?

As per the title it's a CG125.

Cheers

I didn't think overlay stickers were allowed.

I bought a converter and fitted that, and put a sticker saying mph over the kmph on the speedo.
link

Neither examiner said anything, or even looked I think.

Alternative is to fit a digital speedo as an extra, but it wouldn't attach to my bigger bars.

Note that if you use the cable to another speedo or through the converter you no longer have genuine milage (if its measured using the same cable)

but the test states you must be doing 50kph! What a load of bollocks! The only reason that a mod 1 is done off road is so that you can achieve 50kph (32mph, which is illegal on many roads in this country), to fall in line with European law. What a shambles the DSA find themselves in.

Indeed, but '32 mph' is pretty irrelevant on the test on a 125, you don't have time to look at the speedo, you just nail it and hope.

Unfortunately, you need to abide by their rules to get the license, and you need a speedo which reads in both or just mph.

More worrying would be just kmph doing mod2 on the roads

I don't really see the issue, all you need to do is remember the speed limits in km/h.. and the conversion factor if they're really picky.

10km/h = 6.2mph

Hardly difficult to divide speed limit by 6, you'd remember it after about the third speed limit sign you passed. Or use stickers or whatever. Oh well, law's the law

If you're used to working in kmph, or used to the needle position then fine, but I wouldn't want to be working it out on a test!

That said, the rules are the rules. You might be lucky and the examiner might not look, then again you might not - sad way to fail, especially if on mod 2, for the sake of a few quid.

Of course you could just put the sticker on and leave of the converter (under the glass!) and hope for the best

Good point, I don't see how the examiner is going to tell, unless he's got a VERY sharp eye or decides to ride your bike around Razz

He might look for the converter if he thinks a sticker has been just put over the kmph - mines a light blue plugged into the speedo unit and fairly obvious if looking for it.
