Because Islam is only 400 years old (even though it is an off shoot of Judaism) if Xians did this to be bible 400 years ago they'd be shot....

Same thing... its also one of those unfair things whereby you do something and the consequences fall upon somebody else.

Sure but its 2010, why can't people accept that what is 'holy' to them isn't to others?
If people were to 'burn the bible' I doubt there'd be as much uproar. Islamics seem to lack a sense of perspective, a mass produced book containing the insane rantings of a few madmen being burnt is hardly worth getting excited about is it.
I think this sensitive treatment peculiar to Islamics and Islamic issues is wholly misplaced personally, it just encourages them into further self-delusion.

Because self delusion is part of the human condition, you'd be surprised at simply how much of it goes on. Open your wallet and have a look. 6.2bn people almost all of them engaged in a consential self delusion.

Hell they will even FIGHT to protect this self delusion. Very Happy

Have you read it? You do know that Christianity & Islam aren't worlds apart like some would have you believe...?

Anyway, as if to further prove how stupid and uneducated this US pastor is in burning Qurans...they are supposed to be burnt when they are finished with.

Laughing Fucking idiots!

each community finds different things important. The quran is supposed to be treated with the utmost of respect. and burning it is going against that.

Kinda like if someone were to stage a lynching in the middle of madison square, then the afrocarribean community would go nuts, because thats their history.

Indians love burning effigies, burn an effigy of a religious man, then they'll go skitzo.

Walk around town with a swastika, then the jews will go nuts.

Make a huge speech about how ww2 should have been a german victory, then us brits go nuts.

Its all perspective and what pushes different people's buttons. We should all learn to respect that, thats all.

The same reason that some people can't accept that it is fair for bikes to pay a small parking fee in Westminster like all the other vehicles parking there........

Sure but it doesn't mean everyone else should have to bow to their beliefs does it.

Amazing how a guy with a following of around 30 people can nearly bring us to world war 3 over the burning of a book.....

Think they should burn the guy himself.... And all the press for their even more incessant reporting of the farce.

WTF has this this to do with bikes anyway......

Why should everyone bow to your belief that they shouldn't care about the book being burnt?

Regardless of your religious belief (incidentally I subscribe to none) the burning of any book is a travesty. Throughout history only manipulative cowards have sought to keep information out of the hands of the common people. The Catholic church kept the Bible in Latin for centuries and as the common man couldn't read, he was left only with the information he was given, this did not (imho) lead to an informed and educated populace. (see: Book burning)

Hitler once said "How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think." and just to make sure they stayed ignorant, he burned books by the millions.

The Quran/Koran may not hold any truth, it may be the work of some 7th century Bedouin fantasists, just as the Bible may be a peculiar blend of Judeo-Christian myth, but people have to find this out for themselves and the only way to do this is if they read it (dry as biscuits though they both are).

Burning books leads to (more) ignorance and intolerance, do yourself a favour and read Fahrenheit 451

The reverend simply deserved absolutely NO attention at all. Unfortunately the world media has chosen to report on this lunatic and given him the publicity he so craved, and has in the process caused protesting, rioting and has helped as being a recruiting tool for further extremists.

If the media had just kept their fucking noses out (of what was essentially a non event - a threat that one mad man would possibly burn a book), then no-one bar a handful of the people who passed the church would have found out about this...

Give yourselves a clap world media, you've done it again.
