There's 2 of us so far, expecting a few more and would limit the list at about 6. Looks like Wales is most likely so far, couple of nights B&B (Beer and Bed) and a couple of days riding the lanes from dawn until dusk........
...anyone know Wales and if it is worth the trip? Would hate to get there and wish I'd stayed in Surrey! |

I did two Wales weekends earlier in the year. First off was in the 'Gap Road' season and the main steps on the road are a bit awesome. Other than that it was Sarn Helen and the Strata Florida both very good fun.
If you've not already been and or don't already know the routes, it may be worth the extra few quid between you to hire a guide. I was lucky, as the guys in our group had been many times and some were ex Forces, so also knew the area well.
Second time we stayed at Llanerchindda Farm which is highly recommended. It's not bargain bucket B&B by any means, but you do get what you pay for - great rooms with good showers, superb big dinner and all the bike facilities. They can also organise a guide.
I know our gang are off to Wales again this month or next but not sure when yet. I'm bowing out this time as I'm not sure I can afford the potential breakages to me and my bike - I'm a liability!! ____________________ 'The core of a man's spirit comes from new experiences'

That's great help, thank you
Are Sarn Helen and Strata Florida long routes? Might have to get googling!
Might see about a guide too, although I have an ex-forces mate coming with me and he's like a walking map (although sometimes the map seems to be upside down ) |

The guy I do most of my off-road stuff with is ex Forces and a walking map too - unbelievebale but the days out are just the best as no stops just constant lanes!
Sarn Helen is not that long and there are a couple of tricky bits and a water crossing. Strata Florida for us was a daytrip out there and back with lanes along the way, however, the water level when we did it was seriously low and most of the crossings were barely noticeable. If the water level is it's normal height or higher it will take longer, as there will be the inevitable non-starters post dunking!! (normally the orange ones!)
Make sure you tackle Motel Hill..............

Ok, we're now settled on a plan, leaving Friday 15th October and heading to a B&B in Ebbesbourne Wake, just south west of Salisbury. We have room for a couple more if anyone fancies it - Silky666, did you have any joy slipping it past the missus? |

Not too far from Weston... could come and play there on Sunday .
(Unfortunately I think you actually have to have your bike locked in park ferme most of the weekend and it's actually fairly expensive .) |

OK - well I've had a map review and I reckon that you can do some pretty decent Plains stuff and some really lovely Dorzet stuff too, so if I provide the routing bits can someone else be big and brave and lead!!?
I have the paper maps already marked but if one of the BCF Grubby Gang has a MemoryMap friendly GPS/navigation system we would be laughing! It may even spur me into getting one sorted if I can get the £££ sorted in time! ____________________ 'The core of a man's spirit comes from new experiences'
