Want to fly to Africa...

Well, to Namibia in particular. Want to go at the begining of next year to the skeleton coast for a week or so, and then safari for a week or so. Got a mate over there at the moment on a game reserve who can sort me the safari for free, which is a once in a lifetime opportunity really so don't want to miss it.

Only problem is, the flights are costing a bomb! Want to take the missus for her birthday as a surprise. Cheapest flights I've found at the moment are to Winhoek for £525 each return... Can't really afford a grand on just the flights!

Anyone got any ideas where to try and get it cheaper?

If anyone can find me a cheaper flight I'm willing to pay them half the saving if I do go...

i went to kenya on safari this year and it really is an experence not to be missed streach ya budget and do it you wont regret it 5 of us cost £5000 for hotel and flights safaris are cheap once your there i haggled for a 3 day safari for all 5 of us down from £1200 to £300 and we had the van to our selves and stayed in an amazing lodge were they would put meat out for the leapards while you eat you watch the leapards eating i wouldnt have missed it for the world

check out Ethiopian Airways, they do flights from London to Addis Abbaba to the rest of Africa..

Planes are old as fuck though, i've been flying with them every month or so for last couple of years and only had to turn back twice with technical difficulties

Google found this site that seems to have cheaper stuff advertised. Not sure if they are actually available mind and you'll need to check that the company have all the right protection stuff just in case (ATOL/IATA on the website, so look ok).

Friends of mine who travel that way tend to go via places that are cheaper ie. into South Africa first but not ideal if you're after a relaxing holiday!

Got to decide how much, if at all, I'll save if I go to Zimbabwe or somewhere and then somehow get over to namibia!

Why not go on ferry to that B place I cannot spell for love nor money, in Nth Spain. Then go overland through Spain, then by sea crossing into Northern Africa, then fly. That way you get the full on experience, making the journey part of the adventure.

That would be pretty cool! Only thing would be, the missus only has a couple of weeks holiday left and don't want to spend loads of time travelling compared to chilling! Mmm I like the idea though.

Go down the petrol station and the pay the £20, it seems a bit OTT to flee to africa .
