Possibly one of the worst guides I've seen in a while.

<hint>The manual is incorrect, there isn't a taper.(I've stripped a fair few pairs of these calipers)<hint>

Don't grab pistons with pliers. Ever.

I usually find something thin enough that when placed between the pistons allows them to come 95%+ out, then remove them by hand by giving them a twist as you pull.

Also don't be tempted to sand / file any of the corrosion off the pads. Use brake fluid and a rag to clean them, possibly finish them off with polish.

Get your bike on an Abba stand or equivalent. A paddock stand is no good because the front wheel needs to come out.

Lol that is such a load of crap, every bike I have worked on has need the calipers to come off to get the wheel off I can't imagine the TL being any different. If you look at the pic with the wheel off you can see it would be impossible to remove the front wheel without taking the calipers unless the rim is less than 2 inches wide. Why he tooke the wheel off I will never know.

Also no silicon grease used when putting the pistons back.

You've seen how quick I can strip a caliper. Who would you trust, him or me?

I'd trust my dog over him. Laughing

I was impressed how quickly it they came out, I'm definately gonna to get me a set of those pistons pullers if I ever have to do it again, Luckily the S4 is hardly used and the TDM has blue spots which are the best calipers ever built. Never seize always really power and they look good. All I do is change the pads when needed then clean them up and re grease the pistons the TDM ticked over 41k the other day and the brakes are as good as the day it came out of the factory, although I will need new discs soon Crying or Very sad

How many miles has the ER6 got now?

Yes, be wary of internet guides like this.

Use compressed air to remove brake caliper pistons. Catch them in a screwed up rag so you don't get your eye taken out.

Erm and more to the point, one of the main ideas of paddock stands is for removing wheels - which is regularly done in race paddocks Rolling Eyes.

Or a piston puller kit which are now available from machine mart so easy to get hold of.
