Possible causes are the choke sticking a bit on that side, more wore on that cylinder, a slightly knackered plug or a host of other minor things.
Ignore it, it's not a problem now and can only be properly diagnosed when it really becomes a problem.
Another thought - if you park it in the same place every day and the left hand side is in shade, then that pipe is colder and so can collect more condensation. Smoke on startup is often just condensation, only takes a very small amount of water to make noticable steam (which looks like smoke) for quite a long time. |
Robby is correct, they do do it a bit, but sometimes a worn main jet can cause the same issue. I had that on my RD350LC, so I bought a carb rebuild kit and it was much better afterwards. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade
Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another. |

Hmmmm, there isn't a plunger in the right carb If I remember right, these carbs don't actualy have a normal choke - rather than block off the air supply, they enrichen the mixture. I'm guessing that the vacuum just sucks more fuel in than normal.
My money is on the smoking on one side being down to leaving the bike on the side stand anyhoo. Easy enuf to find out. |
