You'll be better off spending that money on a red power band.

This is based on common sense and not knowledge but I would have thought it would be a case of wiring the battery terminals up to the power on the stereo unit, make sure to wire a fuse (and maybe and inline switch).

Then just wire the speaker(s) up.

If I haven't been clear tell me and I will make a paint diagram.

He does have a point though.

Anyway, can you not buy scooter specific systems? I'm sure I have seen them on ebay before.

Couldn't be bothered to search for something like that for more than a few seconds. Wink

Anyway, asking this sort of question on this forum, of all places, is asking for trouble. You've opened yourself up to everyone's opinion whether you like it or not... and I suspect the general consensus is likely to be: Whatever you'll get will sound pants once it finally gets to your ears through the wind noise, traffic noise, engine/exhaust noise and finally the shell of your helmet. Other road users will likely be annoyed with you as well. Your money would be better spent on a nice pair of earbuds and decent MP3 player.

Super Cool idea.. Rolling Eyes

I don't understand the need for a stereo system, you won't be able to hear the music properly because of the "meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-meeeeeeee-meeeeeeeeee" noise coming from your ped. You'd be better off using an ipod with headphones in your helmet to be honest. You'd also look less of a cock.

I don't think I'm alone in my view.

p.s. Do you wear nike trainers and 'tracky-bottoms' whilst on your ped?

Bad idea to post that question on this forum. If you're not planning on using this on the road (where it will be TOTALLY useless) then i'm presuming you're planning on using it in tesco's car park while your mates try to donut their speedfights. I don't particularly think many people like helping you annoy the world

To be honest, I can think of a few members who's sole objective appears to be to annoy the world, so it probably isn't the worst place you could have asked.

You will need some of these and one of these to go with the sound system.

why would you want to?

Anyway.

Youll need a slimline 12v car battery, a car stereo and some speakers. Okay you dont need a slimline battery, but it will fit better.

two wires (with a fused live is a good idea) to connect stereo to the battery (live an earth), two wires for each speaker. thats it.

Now lets consider some things

1) How are you going to charge the 12v battery?

2) you will need to mount the speakers somewhere, likely turn under the seat storage into a mini build using mdf or similar - this will weigh loads ruining both speed and handling of your ped. Also, the speakers will likely sound very tinny. If mounting so can be heard whilst rifding then need to be external facing and waterproof (speedboat speakers perhaps? = expensive...)

3) Anyone with a £50 car audio system will sound better in maccy d's car park than your ped system, which to do properly even as a home build will likely cost in the mid hundreds (plural) and teenage / underage girls will be more impressed with the £50 car system too, as they can listen to it in (relative) comfort rather than standing on cold, damp, asphalt.

4) you mention you dont know about wiring at all, can i assume youve no experience of this sort of thing? If so...

....may i suggest you try reading some sensible internet sites or even books, yes books, which detail general automotive know how rather than crappy max chaver and ped boi monthly and come back with specific project related questions rather than posting up silly day dreamed ideas on an internet site where 99% of readers will think its chavvy, will look and sound crap and is frankly stupid.

Alternatively, get a car and put a 'system' in that.

This stuff is not that difficult for anyone with half a brain and a willingness to do some research for themselves to grasp,

Jeeees, the 'Yoof' of today!

If all you intend running from the battery is the stereo then any 12v battery will do, I have an old 7Ah sla battery that would do the job, charges from the mains when not in use.

How long it would run a stereo for is the big question. You'd need to find out the current draw.

That said, what you are doing is comparable to the twattish Caring, Understanding, Nineties TypeS that play their music from phones on public transport.

God, that fucking pisses me off no end. It's never even good music (obviously) and it certainly isn't something I want added to the hell that is public transport. I hate people who's headphones are a bit too loud, then some fat little tramp comes on with N-Dubz playing on speaker from her iPhone. They never even leave it on for the full song, just the first 30 seconds or something. Some bint obviously just got sent a preview of a song once as she kept playing it over and over with her mate.

There should be some sort of vigilante action in respectful users of public transport in which we can just have the driver stop and kick her off halfway down a long stretch of rural road. And smash her phone. Bitch.
