Hi all,

Just passed my DAS last week and now on the lookout for a 98-99 ZX6R. There seems to be sweet FA available local to me at the moment but I have found a decent 99 G2 down in the south west in Hampshire (about 2h 30mins away). I've spoken to the guy via email and might be going down to see it sometime this week however I've no idea where to even begin asking questions about it? Any advice anyone can give me? What to check on the bike? What to listen out for with the engine idling or with some revs? Any bad signs that are common with the G2's?

Also anything in particular I should ask the seller? I'll obv be doing a HPI check before hand but not sure if theres anything bike specific I need to check.

Anyway hopefully someones got some advice for me!

TIA

P.S I have read the generic buying advice that have been stickied but looking for more ZX6R specific info Smile

UPDATE:
Spoke to the guy about an hour ago and he seemed really genuine and honest about everything, its not his to sell (belongs to a female family friend who the bike is apparently too big for) but he reckoned he'd been out on it the other day before the Ad went up for 20mins and all was well.

Spoke to the lady owner shortly after about half hour ago and got the reg and arranged to go see it wednesday and then went straight onto HPI check when i got off the phone.

Turns out its a CAT C written off by insurer with 8! previous owners before the current one.

It may turn out to be ok but i know when to follow my gut and so I think i'm just going to buy a GS500E off my dad's mate until i find the perfect ZX6R for me (which is still definitely the plan).

So nevermind for now Smile Mod's feel free to close this thread!

Sounds like following your gut instinct is a good idea...and at least you did everything you should to check it out before going any further.

Good luck in finding what you want before too long Smile
