new member in need advice on of buying his first bike

Hi I just joined the forum and a new biker and am looking to get a

125cc bike but the problem is I am quite a big lad (18 stone) so I

was wondering is there a 125 out there that can still do 70mph

with me on it as I would like to use it to go to work and need to go

from dundee to perth on the dual carriageway recommendations

would be really helpful

Will you be wanting to progress onto a bigger bike later on, or would you be happy with a 125 for quite a few years? If the latter, R125 second hand.

Varadero is a good 125, as is the Honda CBF (more upright but still sporty).

Weight makes very little difference to eventual top speed, although if you are big (tall or wide) you will create more drag which will slow you down.

I'm about the same weight as you, and I settled for a CG125 as my first bike. I can tell you that unless you are going down a very big hill, fully tucked in, and have rubbed the engine with cheetah blood, you will not hit 70mph. You will be comfortable though, and pleasantly surprised at the fuel economy. I commuted an hour each way on NSL roads without issue. Very Happy
