I bought the new xbox 360 250gb games console at 14.28 this afternoon and have just asked microsoft to repair it under warranty at 8.00pm. I unpacked just before tea tonight and had a quick game of Halo, switched it off and went for dinner, returned to the machine and it's thrown it's dolly out and frozen itself and won't play a bean. Talk about damn unlucky

Unlucky, Ive only heard of one dead out the box in teh shop.

Where did you get it from? If it was a shop I'd of just went and got a replacment would of been quicker than getting microsoft to replace.

unlucky for me argos, and it's not covered in there 30 day guarantee, so basicly your stuck with a dead console that only microsoft can exchange or repair

I thougt it was excluded from the 30 day MONEY back guranttee. You should be able to exchange it considering its under 24 hours old.

Granted it could work out easier for you to do it, but a machine dead on arival i would expect them to swap it for you.

Argos are usually good for stuff like that, bought an A/C unit that turned out to be faulty, returned it like 4 hours after buying it, think the most they asked was for my post code and signature.

Yup as ste said everything sold must be fit for purpose. A console that doesn't play games certainly is not and you are entitled to a refund or exchange. I'm pretty sure this 30 day period then restarts from the time you get the new one so if they keep failing in under 30 days you can keep getting a new one!

regardless of you registering it for repair with M$ take it back to agros and they will swap it out.

Nah you made the wrong choice. PS3 all the way.

However, cancel the MS thing. Argos will exchange it for you. Its the law. They have to do it. And they just go and get a like for like and hand it to you.

Might be different if the game is stuck inside. But they should be able to do it regardless.

They exchanged it no bother, even with a smile on their faces, the receipt confused me a tad but I went in an asked about it. The receipt states that the item is excluded from there 30 day money back guarantee. It doesn't give any other information so I sidled up to customer services and asked the score.

i think the 30 money back guarantee is there to stop you from buying a console, using it for 29 days and then sending it back 29 days later and getting a full refund. only to be able to go out the same day and buy another one and keep that for 29 days and then send it back again
