Test Rode the aforementioned Bike today and to put it bluntly was blown away by its' performance.
The riding position is extremely race orientated however not to the point of uncomfortability and I felt no adverse affects after an hour and a half of continuous riding.
It'll lift the front wheel off the throttle easily in first and second (although if anyone from the dealership is reading I fully complied with the terms and conditions of your test riding insurance ), and its' appetite for corners is akin to a kid in a cowboy suit's appetite for milky bars.
Prior to the test ride I'd already considered a route that I ride regularly to enable me to compare the experience of riding my TT6 to the Daytona. My TT600 is a 2001 model and has had the fuel settings altered (by remapping) to ensure no injection problems the Daytona was an '04 model and consequently the difference in age is only 3 years. After 10 minutes of riding however the difference in performance, power, braking, gear changing and overall riding experience felt similar to 3 light years
I could give a blow by blow account of the ride however here's one example...
On my route there is one hairpin section near outside Nailsworth (Gloucestershire) that switches back on itself whilst going up a steep hill I can invariably take it comfortably in second but the TT6 takes a moment to accelerate away once the throttle is initiated (it's not sluggish by any stretch but there is a notable pause). With the Daytona I was catapulted out of the corner, front wheel and rev counter rising rapidly and immediately on the brakes to set up for the next hairpin.
The Growl that comes from the can is possibly one of the most awe inspiring sounds I've ever heard from a standard can and you can feel it's throaty roar when your munching up the tarmac.
I left the dealership dumbstruck and guiltily rode my bike home wishing it was time for a change now as opposed to in a couple of months. I've booked a test rides on the GSXR 600 and am going to try the Yamaha and Honda equivalents so expect more guilt laden comments on those bikes too.
My poor Triumph, I feel like I'm being unfaithful to her - I could get used to this infedelity though, it's great fun ____________________ Mellow Yellow

Japanese?
Stick with the Daytona! If you thought the riding position was racy, wait until you ride the CBR or Gixxer!
Buy British, you know it makes sense! ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F
Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another. |
