What sort of spares are wise to take on a trail ride?

Guards can often still get twisted out of the way.
Spare innertube and tyre levers, pot of insta-slime spray stuff (£1 in poundland) in the hope it can be sorted quicker, then usual tape, cable ties and basic tools.
Often I just make do with a greenflag card .

21" tube/spanners to get front and rear wheel nuts off/ 2x tyre levers/ spark plug plus spanner/ air pump/ valve core remover/ allen keys/ knife/ cable ties/ eletrical tape/ pilers/ spare chain split link/ 1/4 wrench with extenion and 8,10,12,13,14 sockets.

yes, i always fit my own tires with the help of a drc mouse jig , we get Dunlops Geomax's through the raf - and tbh i've had the same mouse's in for three years and never had a problem - and although im not sure about legality there are quite a few sections on the welsh that are roads to get to the special test and they handle fine.

the only ever problem with mouse's i've had was on one of the cotswold enduro clubs, hare and hounds where the rear tyre came off becuase i snapped the bead of the tyre getting it on - lesson learned.


dribble like tyre pressure and degrading really isn't an issue for me, i keep the mouse well lubed and they take a hell of alot of abuse.

Thanks for the tips guys.

As for mousses. I've heard a few horror stories too, and they seem to be a bit too much expense/hassle over a set of heavy duty inner tubes for green laning.

If I were doing an enduro then I may consider them.
