hi all im new to the site and im looking at getting my 1st bitg bike,i passed mt test 2 years ago so now unrestricted.I like enduro supermoto bikes and was looking at something fun and nimble but with low running costs so found my self being drawn towards an xr 400 but im affraid il get abit boured of it so now im looking more towards the yam wr400 ,would i be right in thinking its gonna be more reliable than say a 426 or are they a very similar engine as i dont fancy the cost of a rebuild every 2 minutes also id like to do some long journeys on the xr every now and again comfort wise is not an issue but do these bikes need much work if seviced well thanks adam.

The WR isn't considered very good for long journeys, while the XR is a lot more so, I'd say.
You're not going to find a powerful light bike that also has good reliability - you're going to have to sacrifice one of those parts.

When you say not suitable for long journeys is this because there not as relibale or because they are not as comfortable as say an xr,i ask this as i would travel to work and be out at the weekend on her thankyou so far.

Not as reliable mostly - there is some question over exactly how good/bad they are. Technically they are both competition enduro bikes, but the WR is in a higher state of tune.

Personally, I would go for a TE610 in your situation.

If it must be a Yamaha, have you thought about an XT600E or the newer 660
