They left YOU solely in charge of a newborn infant? That is the only part of your post I'm worried about, not the shape of an infants unformed skull.
My skull has an odd few bumps in it and have always assumed it was normal. There was a thread in this section about skull bumps in adults a few months ago so I can only assume every family has left the 'tard in charge of the newborn once in a while.

iirc it is normal for the top of the babies head to be soft and someone able to feel the bones/skull being formed.

Don't press on it. You'll go straight through it (i think? could be wrong. Only ever looked after neices/nephews after 6months old).

When you observe your first child emerging from your good lady wife, try very hard not to say 'should its head be that pointy'.

They can come out like coneheads if you don't have a caesarean.

This thread is a clear attempt at an alibi. Warped has put dents in the baby's head and is trying to cover himself. It will not stand up in court.

Your skull is made up of several bones, all interlaced with each other to create a, relatively, seamless join. It takes some time before all of the bones in a baby's head fuse and form one. The soft spot is (or are, there are more than one) called a fontanelle - read about it here.

Oh and aye, for god sake give the baby back ASAP! Laughing

Its perfectly normal, you doofus.

Can you imagine if they all came out with rock-hard bony heads.
All women would only ever have one child. Ouchy!

(meanwhile, hk conveniently forgets that she herself only has the one) Laughing

You could do worse than ask your sister in law (?) for basic lessons in how to deal with babies, before they leave you alone with one again. This will, if nothing else, alert them to the fact of their grave error.

Babies have soft spots on their heads. This is so that in the event of a fire in the maternity ward the nurses can pick up three in each hand using a bowling ball type grip.

In te' olden days, the midwives would do away with unwanted babies by thrusting their thumbs into this soft part of the head.... Sick

Whilst the babies skull is soft, this is surely a golden opportunity to shape it how you wish Thinking

Why not roll it into a cone, or perhaps pinch it across the middle and roll it into an hourglass shape?
