I agree it's interesting in an academic sort of way, but as a realistic alternative to the modern car, no I don't think so.

We had small cars 30-40 years ago, bubble cars, FIATs, Minis, Imps etc... in the end no one wanted them and cars just got bigger and bigger.

A realistic alternative to a car is a PTW, but most people don't see it as such.
