Hi all was wondering how long a battery should hold charge when the bike is not being ran. I left my gsxr for a week and the battery lost most of its power, the bike wouldnt start but still have enough power to run the alarm and immobilizer. When i left the bike the alarm was not activated but immobilizer was, could this effect the battery? Thanks

I suppose a lot depends on the bike and the battery... but ultimately, it should last more than a week!

I suspect you've got a cheapo alarm that uses loads of juice.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

the alarm is a top spec one, cost around £400 new. i have not even been activating the alarm when leaving the bike, only the immobilizer.

Bump start, take for a blast.

Repeat until you can buy a trickle charger/investigate the alarm further Laughing

Probably battery is not working as it should anymore, even in winter it should be OK for a couple of weeks.
If you aren't doing many long runs and usually have headlights on or they don't turn off it might not be getting enough charge without a trickle top up once a week or so.

No good if it doesn't have enough juice to prime the fuel pump/start the ECU & injectors.
