I was speaking to a mate the other day, and he sold his R6 to a young lad, who is going to go out and restrict it to 33bhp, or what ever the limit is.
The young lad said his mate brought a GSXR 1000 and restricted it to 33bhp.
Firstly is this possible?
Secondly, if so, what is the most mental bike anyone here has that is restricted because they are too young.
I mean that seems a waste of money buying a top of the range GSXR and restricting it?? ____________________ Mr Pants! (Alex or Al)

I restricted my GSXR 600 to 33bhp, it was crap, what I didn't realise is the quality of these restrictors is crap and they break way too easily and fall out. |

Thanks to Danny, got both mine insured for £1200
I bought the R6 for a few reasons and not because it was a "big bike to tart on" contrary to popular belief it's for riding.. I would tart about on it but I look stupid so I prefer to try and ride away really fast so no one can see me looking stupid
The WR is far far far not for tarting either.. It looks clean in the pictures but it's no tarting bike
GSXR1000 restricted to 33bhp is a bit silly and those that buy big bikes and leave them restricted IMO are there for tarting and "Look at me I've got a big bike" but personally I think that people who buy a big bike and don't "actually" restrict it have bought the bike for the performance and not just the looks. ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |

R6 was 4 washers under carbs and a throttle stop in the carbs to stop the carb slides moving at all....
WR is going to be throttle stops custom made with a dyno chart to prove, as FI International don't make a kit.. there's bugger all chance of that staying in though, needs more power as it is let alone restricting to 33bhp...
YZF cam and akra here we come ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |

TL had a washer under each fuel injection unit and a throttle stop. And the shop who fitted it for me let me have the full fitting instructions for it so I could see exactly what was where.
Mr Pants, if you do your restricted access at the age of 20, you are not allowed to remove them until you have had the license two years. Anyone of any age can do the restricted access which you are limited to 33bhp for your first two years and can then have any bike. If you do it under the age of 21, but turn 21 when you're still on the restricted license you can do a test called accelerated access which is basically the DAS test and means you can take the restrictors out of your bike.
So the youngest age anyone can legally be riding a bike above 33bhp is 19.
Insurance companies do not take any notice of the fact your bike is (or is meant to be) restricted to 33bhp, they charge you just the same as they would do if it was full power. I have never once been asked by my insurance company for my proof of my bike being restricted, and when I was stopped once by a police bike in Reading he thought that my 600cc bike was the biggest bike that I could ride until I was 21 . I just agreed and got on my way.
