Getting bored of riding my Honda cbf125 and want a change, been offered a swap for a aprilia rs 125 full power around 28 bhp I think, but I'm only on CBT and plan on doing DAS in 18 months after my wedding .
Now what would the consequences if I was to get found out by the police to be riding fp on L plates and cbt? I have a car licence? Did a search on google and didn't seem to come with anything apart from a few posts on 125sportsbike forums saying you'll never get caught etc,
Thoughts?

sure if you dont tear the arse out of it and do anything stupid then you should be ok, only time you will be screwed is if you trash it and the insuance look it it, then you will find that it invalidates your insurance
but if your board of your CBF ill do a swap for my CG125 - plus if your saving for a wedding (i am and its so f*cking expensive) you will end up spending loads on the RS and naff all on the CG125 and CBF125!

You plan to do DAS in 18months?
How long have you had your CBT Cert?
They are only valid for 2 years......
If you've had your CBT more than six months, you'll have to repeat before or during DAS.....
2 year restriction doing A2........
May be I'm missing something, BUT.....
If you are planning on carrying on riding, for the next 18months anyway...... and you are bored with your 125.....
Why not simply get your test out the way, on your 125?
Live with the 2 year restriction on A2, and NOT have to shell out the added wonga for DAS training.....
Meanwhile, you get a full licence, which will drop your insurance renewal, dump your L-Plate, let you carry a pillion, ride on motorways, ride an unrestricted RS, without cause for concern, OR get something bigger, cheaper, and more exiting, thats more reliable, and cheaper to run.......
Err..... not sure why you want to wait to do DAS, I presume its becouse you are under 21? & you cant do a DAS course till then...
Seems a curiouse suggestion, you are making.... and doesn't entirely make sense, when you can get to the same point, in pretty much the same time, and get more from your biking in the mean-time, doing A2..... and you still have the option of Accelerated access, IF when you are 21 you want to get the restriction lifted early....

Well Das Training is about £500 a course usually, then cost of tests on top of that.
Doing A2, you pay the same for the tests, but no DAS course.
How much you spend on training to test standard on your own bike, depends on how much training you need, who you go to and how they structure it. some charge per lesson, some do a fixed price course. Fixed price course on your own bike tends to be about £100.
So you stand to save around £400 of training fees at the very least.
And as 125 training is roughly 1/4 the price of DAS training, IF you dont pass first time, it saves you a HELL of a lot more money.
Meanwhile, important thing is it gets your L's dumped. Being a qualified rider, even a newly qualified on, drops you out of the highest risk group.
I know while your saving for a wedding, you watch..... or err... shall we say SOME-ONE watches every penny..... or more precicely every penny NOT spent on what they think is THE most important thing in BOTH your lives.....
Yes.... £2K for a dress that will be worn once is cheap..... and WHAT do you MEAN you NEED a new tyre for the bike! Cant it wait?! You seem to need a new one of those every bludy year... we are only going to do THIS once...... AREN'T we!?

But honestly, couple of hundred quid for some training and the tests, lots of common cocum, and a bit of luck, should see you through.
And my advice would be to do it on the CBF, THEN swap for your mates RS. Its a more 'respectable' learner bike, sets a better impression, so more chance of pass.....
Justifying the cost to her...... point out that its peanuts, and it'll make you safer...
If it gets flak, then, you are probably onto a looser from the beginning..... but then this is about the sense of getting your test done, not the sense in getting married!
