Cheap chinese PSUs at Maplins:

https://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=393044

£34.99

Worth a punt for a spare.

I wouldn't. Typical kind of cheap PoS trash from the country that can barely manafacture its way out of a wet paper bag (china), you stand to lose every component in your tower if it blows up spectacularly (and being chinese it probably will).

Hence the last line. I wouldn't put one in my main rig.

Well I don't have a spare or sacrificial rig, so I'll probably steer clear of getting one too...
I'm normally more than happy to use Maplin, but trying to economise on a component as significant as a PSU isn't something that I'm willing to risk the rest of my rig for.
Just my Penny Coin Penny Coin

[edit] for the record, my previous rig was killed off by a dodgy PSU, so I'm not biased at all Rolling Eyes LOL

£35 doesn't even seem that cheap, what sort of rig needs 780W? It's probably not even 780W, I had an old 500W that died if I tried to SLI back when cards used about 100W each

Yeah, but it's not all abouts Wats, it was probably too many amps for the unit.
