Its a factory streetfighter, its a Ducati, its awesome.

https://www.modern-screws.co.uk/bike_files/f1%20bike.jpg

Anything with a fucking hideous tail unit mounted at a ridiculous angle (which probably applies to 90% of streetfighters)

Beat me to it. The Ducati Streetfighter is just perfect. End of the story really. Having said that, I think the Tuono is the only true 'factory streetfighter' in so far as it shares pretty much everything but the fairing and bars with the RSV. The Ducati is very different to the 1098. But that's just being pedantic, and the Super Duke R fits the bill pretty damn well too:

https://www.gulum.net/motor/resimler/KTM_990_Super_Duke_R-aa_2007_09_1024x768.jpg

Worst streetfighter? 95% of so called 'custom streetfighters' which have absolutely nothing to do with ripping the fairing off a superbike, and everything to do with absolutely tasteless, pointless modification:

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/12/Streetfighter_Suzuki_Bandit.jpg

It's. Just. Shit.

For me it's about making a performance bike more unique and focussed to purpose. That purpose is usually real world usability, so changing the riding position to be a it more comfortable, down the gearing a bit as no one needs a 180mph top speed.

Those bikes that are commuter bikes or all rounders that are then tarted up to me them look fast etc are the opposite i think.

Yes.

https://www.f1moto.co.uk/shop/gallery/large%20pics/duncan/dunc1.jpg

No.

There is also that which is completely unique, which is by far the best type.

this debate can't really go any where,
its all personal taste, i like biscuits but don't like cake,
does that mean you shouldn't like cake??

when fighters first came about, the old rgv fat seat units were used,
now no-one likes them, and all go for a slim r1 style,
in Germany they like seat units in the air... but the Germans also like raw mince, i don't like raw mince, but is it wrong that they do,

beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I agree here. Its all a matter of personal taste. Personally I'm not a lover of street fighters at all. I think it ruins a perfectly good bike, but in saying that I have seen a few that I have liked the look of but ultimately I still wouldnt want one.

The wavey discs are certainly pointless.

The rest is pointless in this instance because it's an overweight, gutless, wallowing Bandit. It's the bike equivalent of a tarted up Corsa. You can add all the 'performance' accessories you like, it's still a Bandit.

As I said, it's not a street fighter unless it's a fully faired motorcycle with the fairing ripped off (usually because it's been crashed).

I appreciate the effort but usually dislike the style of the customs so go for a factory type everytime unless its a cafe racer/bobber. my personal favourite:

Kinda like that?! Laughing

Geared down with renthal bars, Bandit1200 from calipers, 05 ZX6 shock, Supercorsa tyres. Performance over style kinda thing. Only reason the front fairing is still there is so i can keep the standard lights, cos again, they are practical cos they as so god damn bright!

Yup, like that, though usually it's done to a crashed bike where the fairing is too costly to fix so it's gone. Usually street fighters are semi salvage projects rather than exercises in tartyness

A 6 is gutless. A 12 is not. Both are overweight and wallowing. Both have shite frames, cycle parts and are prone to rust. More importantly, they're both prone to attracting tasteless owners and the kind aftermarket tat that those owners insist on festooning their bikes with.

And yes, in essence: Bandit = Corsa.

With regards to the GSX-R750 - whether or not a Bandit 12 would 'slay' it is irrelevant. I don't own it on the basis of cutting edge performance. I own it because it's a bloody fun bike to ride, and it's cheap, and it's reliable, and it's interesting, and it's pretty much 100% original. No false pretensions. No pointless customisation. No tat. It's also a damn sight better looking than any Bandit, especially tarted up ones:

if you say so id say a trick bandit with forks and swinger is nicer than any stock pre srad gsxr ...

and pointless? they aint pointless if they improve the handling or brakes are they?? id say pointless was little bits of carbon fibre and sticker shit

i fail to see how it can be classed as a corsa still.

i'd call it more of a capri with a v8 under the hood. loads of grunt shit build quality, and needs some mods Razz

I can see where hes coming from though. When you have stuff like this:

https://motorbike-search-engine.co.uk/Custom/gsf600-streetfighter.jpg

...which looks like a complete waste of money in a haphazard attempt at looking unique its not easy to see the parallels with something like this:

https://www.dr-bellend.com/images/camo-corsa----web.gif

I'm a Hornet owner with plans for the winter. I can see both sides. There are plenty of badly tarted Bandits etc. just like there are plenty of sportsbikes covered in Farbon and anodised tat!

Anyway I do generally like streetfightery things but these really give me the horn:

so compare a half finished bandit with a totaly different swinger and a seat unit etc that isnt finished to a corsa with just stuck on bits of plastic hmmm kay
if you say so it isnt the same is it. swapping bits from totaly different bikes onto yours isnt the same as some fibreglass body kit.

its just like saying a wells orted corsa with a turbo redtop motor and a 6 speed box. with all coilovers and big disks / 6 pots is a waste of time and shit. yet it will show up ALOT of 'preformance' cars

You missed my point there Welshy, I was saying there are good and bad examples but theres plenty of tat that just looks like it has been thrown together.

As for the well sorted Corsa option, how much would that cost? I'm all for embarrassing performance cars but if its £5k-8K all in I'd be looking at an Evo/S1 Elise.

You pays yer money, you takes yer choice. Some do make lovely, unique and custom things for peanuts and others make it look like they ramraided Halfords.

Vee was your Hornet on eBay a good while ago?

I swear I recall seeing something reeeeaally similar, if not the same bike.

I do mean a good while ago aswell, not recently.

Nice bike though! Laughing
