Hi, a week late, but here are some pictures I took at Bordon for the supermoto racing. A few mates of mine were racing Thumbs Up no. 59 on the XR650 and no. 32 on the Gas Gas 250 as well as a few others.

Was a very good day out, good weather and good racing.. the quad bikes are mental too, but I didn't take any pictures of them.

Hope you like... (I took a lot more than this, but these are some of the "better" ones - they're all a bit pants though, still learning with this photography marlarkee) Smile

What sort of camera are you using mate?

If you have control over the shutter speed then a good suggestion is to set it to 1/125s or less and track on the moving subject. This will make the subject sharp and the background blurred, which gives a good impression of speed. Takes some practice though!!

Some really good shots there anyway Thumbs Up

Hi, I'm using a tarty Sony DSC-P10 5MP jobbie... I bought it because you can adjust all the settings, white balance, shutter speed, etc and I couldn't see that many other cameras that done this..

I've noticed that shooting at 3.1mp for action shots is much better than 5mp... I took this at lydd Friday on 3.1mp and has turned out much clearer/better quality - but for still shots, 5mp is great Mr. Green

https://www.cwimedia.co.uk/other/misc/jump.jpg

I also noticed at Bordon that my flash was turned off, pictures improved with the flash on!

I'm going to read the book tonight then and play with the shutter speed.... I have it set to "sport" mode which is a fastish shutter speed but I think the exposure is a bit dark so the pictures go a bit too grainy/dark - I need to read the instruction manual for once Shocked and learn how to set up my own scene, something nice and bright but with a fast shutter speed

Thanks v much for advice.. I'm at another track day on 15th so might miss out a session to take some more pics again and see if they are improved Thumbs Up Smile

By Bordon do you mean the Bordon near Guilford in Hants? I'm guessing so because it looks like the training area down that way. Just asking because I am based at the barracks in Bordon.

Yep that's the place, it was in/next to the training area, on those open road bits with fences round them (presumably army territory?)

No idea but it was in the middle of some woodland bit, got to go down a longish gravel road to get to the open area where the supermoto race was.

Same camera as me then... Thumbs Up

Im just fine tuning it for the trials and road pictures as the shutter speed could be a little better.

Yeah sounds like the training area. Surprised our lot didn't get conned into helping out for it, lol. We normally have to help out with events down there.
How often are races down there then?

Dunno actually, I will have to check I need to drag out the manual, the only problem is the pics come out really large and then compressing them starts to blur them a little.

Was surprised my dad really got a good photo in of me there, we were using "Burst 3" mode since it was for a in air motion shot.

Hi, I don't think it's a regular thing down there, I'm not sure to be honest.

Southern Supermoto are very new and are hosting a racing series which travels about as far as I know.

Round 1 was at Bordon
Round 2 is at Llandow
Round 3 I *think* is at lydd.

I'll be at all of them, either taking pics or poss racing. I've got another track day on the 15th which I'm going to use to mess about with the camera.. think I need some more memory sticks haha

Well, I live in Portsmouth so your only about 15 or so miles away.

Some very nice and very twisty country lanes there, great for supermotos so I spend a lot of time up that way if your ever about could possibly meet up some time.

I would go for a ride. But the bike will be staying up in Yorkshire as I don't fancy riding it from Bradford down to Bordon along A roads as I'll only have my CBT. I will let you know if I change my mind and decide to ride down the length of the UK lol.
