My FC is cheaper than his TPO
I guess being over 30 has some advantages after all! |

Taking a stab in the dark here, but I guess that the loading as soon as theft is put on is beouse the bike isn't normally garaged or kept in other 'secure' location.
End of the day, a high loading like that is telling you, theres a VERY big risk the bikes going to be nicked.
Your call...... save the pennies for a better use (down the pub?!?!)
And you have a 50/50 chance you are going to get up one morning to find you have no bike..... and a big head-ache, rather than pennies in the pot to replace it, or telephone no. to call to get a cheque sent to you to cover at least part of the loss.
How do you want to play it?
Up to you. Saving on the insurance premium, could be worth while IF you take some extreme measures to avoid it getting nicked, but that will mean more than just sticking a disc lock on it. Alarm, heavy chain, ground anchor, careful thought about where you park it.
But 125's are a BIG nick-risk.
Look at WHY they are giving you such a high quote, and work out what its telling you. These people DONT get thier numbers out of thin air, they really DO want your business, and they DO know how competative the market is, but they also know how likely your bike is to get stolen.
DO YOU know something they dont? Can YOU beat the odds?
Remember, they are ALWAYS loaded in favour of the house. If you want to beat them, you REALLY have to study the form well. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

I beleive that TPFT can sometimes be cheaper than TPO!
When i got my Cb350, it actually turned out cheaper to insure that than my 125
Personally, i'd never go for any less than TPFT. Anyone can nick a bike if they really wanted it, Anyone could set fire to a bike if they really didn't want it
Just the world we live in, as soon as fully comp is cheap enough for me i'll more than likely go for that. ____________________ First bike: 1982 Suzuki Gs 125 'The beast MK1' > 1988 Honda Cb 350's' FOR SPORT! As an aside i feel that the majority of posts seem to be rather too much pro-insurance and not enough pro-security. You're young and so if you claim, you will be completely screwed over for years to come (i.e. no no-claims, but showing 1 theft or whatever), that's without of course the extra premium / excess etc etc.
Of course, if you genuinely couldn't afford another then maybe it's worth it, but i feel you'll lose out very badly if you claim. ____________________ -- Ingah |

Exaaactly! and mate, its a 125, anyone who is a opportunist thief will be stopped by a massive chain, and anyone who wants your bike, will have it, regardless. A thief who puts their mind to a bike will have it. However, i highly doubt any thief will put that much effort into stealing your bike.
It not worth it because even if you do claim you'll get screwed over in the higher premiums you'll pay in future. Its like someone else said, the main thing is that you wanna stop your bike being nicked in the first place rather than fork out for fallback measures |

I've just bought the Almax series III with the Squire lock and ground anchor... I park next to a MINT R6 at work and he doesn't have any security on it so I don't think my bike will be targeted with that thing securing its back wheel to a crash barrier.
I went with the good stuff because I had a nice meaty looking 'D' lock on my mountain bike a few years ago, a pair of scrawny chavs soon had that lock off but didn't get the bike, by pure luck I was just walking out of the shop as they were doing the deed and they ran off |
