Hey,

Got this little 125 to run around on over winter, drop it, write it off...whatever goes.

Been checking it over, making sure it can last 1 of these crap wet winters, and the only thing that bothers me is the vibrating.

Its dog slow, obviously...but from 7k>10k its very shaky, it seems like the exhaust note changes slightly and its very tingly on the balls.
After 10k it revs alot easier..but by then its at the redline.

Before 7k is alright, maybe feels a little held back.

What should I go looking for.. any ideas would be fantastic

Cheers

My YBR has done it for ages at 7k+ revs especially in 5th gear aroung 50-55mph. Valve clearances are good, engine mounting bolts are tight etc, engine seems ok otherwise, SOHC 125cc job like the CBR.

wouldnt expect it to last long if revving it up to 10000rpm.
iirc, mines didnt like anything over 7500rpm, (was happiest at 6k) & i changed sprockets to compensate,
cheers,

Yeah, they're very happy at 6.5K, like 7.5K and get vibey about 8K+

Could do with a few more horses but they're a fun city bike.

Before you consider anything else make sure all your engine mounting bolts are there and tight, and I mean TIGHT. You wouldn't believe just how much vibration you can get if only one of these is not as tight as it should be.

I'll check the mounting bolts tomorrow, its worrying me as ive have one before, it was an 06 plate, mines now a 54...the 06 was fine, never vibrated, had 8000 miles on it.
This one has 18,000 has all service history up to 17,000...but dropping the oil and checking everything is tip top wont cost much.

Shame, if it wasnt so vibey it would be a nice ride.

Also revving to 10k isnt a daily occurrence, Its just i notice it gets quieter then, cruising in 5/6th gear is fine for about 65/70 at low revs.

might be worth giving it a bit of tlc in that case. i would just give it some fresh oil, filter, and plug. maybe air filter too if feeling nice. check chain tension, and lube the chain. all basic stuff. its suprising how much of a differnce it maks to the smaller engines!

I'll go over it with a service kit or w/e, think its carbed...so im not faffing too much with filters, stock ones and the such will be fine Laughing
