frame swap help

ok noob question but i have 2 bikes both perty much the same same engine same frame only difference is one has MOT but no tax or v5 and the other has a v5 but no MOT and would cost to much to put through a MOT

my question:
would it be possible to swap the frames over so i keep the sweet running one but with a different frame so i get the V5 off the other and can tax it i know the process off swapping the frame mechanically but would i need to inform the DVLA and fill in paper work and wait for a new V5 ect before it would be legal

the whole reason for this is the the second bike i bought it to put in for MOT and ride on the road but it failed the MOT epically (swing-arm bushes,fubar gearbox and knackered ignition (it wont start))

the other i bough after to again ride on the road but this one had no tax when i bought it so i thought ok ill tax it after buying it only to find out it had no V5 so i cant tax it now i know i can send off a V62 and get a new V5 but that takes 8-12 weeks apparently
and i cant be without a bike that long

soo... if i was to swap the frames off the two bikes then i would have one bike with no MOT or tax but a V5 to tax and a sweet running bike to sail through an MOT

am i simplyfying it too much will i still need a new V5?

When you say they are pretty much the same in what way and what bikes?? Bikes such as the oil cooled Suzukis swop engines and other bits pretty easily but others are not as simple as you might initially think. It's easy enough to swop the good engine into the good frame/reg number with the V5 and just get it MOT'd as they don't check engine numbers on the test. You could then tax it and then send the V5 in afterwards informing them of an engine swop. Same size engine is no problem with the DVLA, using bigger one isn't much of a problem either as they just get more tax from you if it goes above the original tax bracket but when you put a smaller tax bracket engine in they sometimes get arsey and want more details and proof.

ok when i say pretty much the same they are the same bike (chinese 125) but made by a company every part is identical though but the engine has a diferent name on it

if i was to do this and get it MOT'd ect would it be legal to ride whilst the engine number dosent match up if i send the paperwork away straight after its taxed and moted

how easy is it to swap frames over as i would be swapping the swing-arm and shock basicly everything would get swapped would i need to replace anything like gaskets ect?

Swingarm bearings are generally in the swingarm, so why not just swap that over the get the bike mot'd. The other two items are not mot ones anyway far as I know.

One thing to watch out for is if you are trying to get tax without having a V5, you might struggle a bit unless you happen to have a reminder.
